Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons Downsize to $16.5M Penthouse After Selling Sydney Mansion

Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons Downsize to .5M Penthouse After Selling Sydney Mansion

Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have ‘downsized’ to a $16.5million luxury penthouse in Mosman, just days after selling their palatial Sydney mansion for $23million.

The power couple have been revealed as the buyers of the lavish four-bedroom harbourside apartment nicknamed ‘The Castle’, which had a price guide of $15m – $16.5m.

The breathtaking and spacious apartment occupies the entire top floor in a block of six, and features a private rooftop terrace and sweeping views of Sydney.

The property spans 530sqm of indoor and outdoor space and features heritage-protected sandstone.

Other attractive features include a mixture of stunning heritage and contemporary architecture, an open rooftop bathtub, a teppanyaki barbecue and a hidden turret kitchenette.

It was previously owned by Susan and Mark Luby, ex–CEO of building products’ supplier Alesco Corp.

The huge price tag breaks the previous Mosman record for the sale of a private apartment, which was $14.1m in 2022.

It comes just days after Lisa and Peter finally sold their Sydney mansion after it sat on the market for several months when it failed to find a buyer at auction.

In August, the power couple unsuccessfully tried to sell the Cremorne property – which had a $24.5 million reserve price – but they have now managed to secure a buyer.

The pair reportedly sold the home for less than their asking price and although the property’s listing secured more than 45,000 page views on realestate.com.au after it was first listed for sale, it struggled for some time to attract genuine interest.

Lisa and Peter purchased the historic residence, known as Ingleneuk, in 1998 for just $2.95 million, meaning a sale anywhere near the reserve would deliver them a staggering profit of more than $20million.

Built in 1903 and restored to its full glory by the couple, the six–bedroom home sits on a sprawling 3,125 sqm block with sweeping harbour views, a tennis court, heated pool and manicured gardens.

They also snapped up two neighbouring blocks to return the estate to its original size and secure rare dual–frontage – making the property one of the Lower North Shore’s most prestigious addresses.

Over the years, Lisa and Peter have hosted a wealth of Aussie celebrities at the property, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Hugh Jackman and Nigella Lawson.

Earlier this year, the pair were slammed online over the staggering sum they were asking for the home.

Many online commentators criticised the disparity between the media power couple’s wealth and their left–leaning political stances.

‘Progressives Lisa Wilkinson and potential Republic President Peter Fitzsimons are selling their house! A steal at $23m! Is Albo appointing them to the UN or something?’ one person wrote on social media.

‘Just a couple of everyday Australian battlers,’ another wrote.

Peter is a strong advocate for Australian republicanism, having previously chaired the Australian Republican Movement.
