Lindsay Lohan is getting fans excited for the upcoming Freak Friday sequel, Freakier Friday, which will hit theaters next year.
The actress, 38, teased details about the ‘exciting’ new film and talked reuniting with onscreen mom, Jamie Lee Curtis, in a new interview with Elle.
Released in 2003, Freaky Friday follows a mother and teen daughter (played by Curtis and Lohan, respectively) who magically switch bodies after reading a cryptic fortune cookie.
Lohan said the sequel will be a lot of ‘fun’ for fans of the beloved family comedy.
‘There’s a lot of fun fashion in the movie, which is exciting. There are a lot of different, new, really exciting, fun aspects to this one,’ the mother-of-one dished.

‘I think people are really going to enjoy it. It’s a really fun movie, and we had a lot of fun making it.’
She then discussed working with Curtis again — 21 years after Freaky Friday was released.
Lohan told Elle that she felt ‘so lucky’ to be back on set with Curtis, describing her as a ‘great person’ and ‘friend.’
‘It makes such a difference on set, because then it doesn’t feel so much like going to work every day. I love Jamie,’ she gushed.
‘She’s such a great person to have on set. She’s just a great human being in general.’
Lohan added: ‘So, we were really excited to be able to work together.’
She also spoke about their tight bond offscreen.
‘She’s always coming up with new words of wisdom. I can’t even think of one, because there are so many,’ the Mean Girls star shared.
‘I think we are constantly going through advice with each other, [on] life and growing and how things change over the years and how we evolve.
‘It’s just an ongoing conversation,’ Lohan said.

Though Disney has yet to confirm an official release date, fans should expect to see Freakier Friday in theaters sometime in 2025.
Filming for the sequel began in June of this year with production wrapping in late August.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Curtis gave some inside scoop on working with Lindsay again.
‘The whole thing was fun, just from all areas of it,’ she told the outlet.
Curtis said dished that Lohan was ‘always’ in ‘mom mode.’ Lohan welcomed her first child, son Luai, in July 2023 husband Bader Shammas.
Curtis continued: ‘She just loves it. It’s actually very hard to pull her away from mom mode.’
Although the fiery haired actress never brought her son to set during filming, Curtis shared that Shammas would ‘pick her up from work almost every day.’
‘Bader and Luai came and [would wait] for her in her trailer, and then they all go home together,’ she gushed.
While at Disney’s D23 fan event to promote the film in August, the pair were asked who they would like to switch bodies with, like in their hit film, and Lohan said her baby.
‘Maybe my baby,’ Lohan responded. ‘Just to see — because he is, so pure and just so happy, just to see life through his eyes, every day. He’s just this beautiful bundle of joy. I can’t think of anything else.’

In 2021, Lohan announced via social media she was engaged to Shammas after three years of dating. She wrote on Instagram saying, ‘My love. My life. My family. My future.’
The couple tied the knot on April 3, 2022 and jetted on a lavish honeymoon in Turkey alongside the financier.
Less than a year later on March 14, 2023, at around five months pregnant, the actress shared she was expecting.
At the time, she posted a picture of a baby onesie that read ‘coming soon…’ along with the caption, ‘We are blessed and excited.’
