Aussie rockers Lime Cordiale received mixed reviews from fans after their performance at the AFLW grand final on Saturday.
The Sydney-based band provided the pre-match entertainment for the clash between the North Melbourne Kangaroos and the Brisbane Lions at Melbourne’s Ikon Park.
The indie rockers regaled the crowd with a four song set to get the ball rolling that included their energetic tracks Pedestal, Robbery, Temper Temper, and Inappropriate Behavior.
But it seems that some fans were less than impressed with the ARIA award-winning outfit’s stylings, taking to social media to voice their displeasure.
Over on Twitter, one fan suggested that the venue may not have been right for Lime Cordiale.
‘The local RSL must’ve been booked so they took this gig,’ they wrote.

Another chimed in with an equally unflattering: ‘Embarrassing for the comp that this was the best they could get.
Another suggested that they weren’t able to give an accurate review of the performance as they couldn’t actually see the band.
‘Don’t know. 90% of the crowd literally couldn’t see them. They played to a small, half empty stand and the player’s benches.’
It wasn’t all negativity though with the band possibly picking up a slew of new fans after their grand final set.
‘You guys have a unique authentic aesthetic sound, It’s a vibe! Noice,’ one fan commented.
Another suggested that the band outplayed Katy Perry’s AFL Grand Final performance in September.
‘Lime Cordiale …..so much better then Katy Perry, LFG Lions,’ they wrote while another agreed with: ‘Lime Cordiale >>> Katy Perry.’
It was a similar reception over on Instagram with one fan also suggesting Lime Cordiale were better than the Teenage Dream hitmaker and, indeed any artist who had performed at the grand final, men’s or women’s.

‘BEST pre game entertainment in the history of AFL. LOVED IT,’ the fan enthused.
Another gave a rave review with: ‘That was fantastic, the sound was tight and sounded great on the TV. The band and the W have done a brilliant job.’
Lime Cordiale formed in Sydney in 2009 and consists of brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, with additional members James Jennings, Felix Bornholt and Nicholas Polovineo.
The band were nominated for eight ARIAS awards in 2020, taking home the gong for best breakthrough artist – release for their sophomore album 14 Steps to A Better You.
US popstar Katy Perry was reportedly paid a staggering $5million to put on a pre-game performance at the final.
Her 20-minute set included two tracks from her latest album 143, Lifetimes and Gorgeous, her collaboration with Kim Petras, after reports she had been restricted to just one new song by AFL bosses.
Despite slipping the new songs in, it was the hits that got the crowd pumping with Katy kicking of with a rendition of Roar before ripping into her hits Teenage Dreams, Dark Horse and Firework.
Katy also belted out a rendition of I Kissed A Girl with Tina Arena before the pair moved into a rendition of the Aussie pop star’s hit Chains.

But she caused surprise with her setlist by not singing Hot n Cold, despite it famously being the theme tune to MasterChef Australia and jokingly regarded by many as Aussie’s true ‘national anthem’.
Though fans praised her vocal talents, many viewers were also left completely baffled by one unusual detail during the performance, which they claimed had no place at an AFL Grand Final.
Viewers at home took to social media to mercilessly mock her choice to accompany her real-life performance and dance moves with an array of ‘bizarre’ CGI effects.
