Lily Allen Shows Bare Wedding Finger in ‘Break-Up’ Album Shoot Amid New Music Release

Lily Allen made a statement as a single woman as she showed off her bare wedding finger while shooting for her new ‘break-up’ album following her divorce.

The singer, 40, split from her ‘unfaithful’ ex-husband David Harbour last year when she discovered his three-year affair and profile on celebrity dating app, Raya.

Since the separation, Lily has been finding therapy in music and is releasing herĀ first album in seven years, West End Girl, which will detail their split after four years of marriage.

In a picture released in conjunction with the record, Lily looks stylish in a polka dot dress and stockings – revealing her ring-free hand as she picks up her groceries.

Lily,Ā who has signed a deal with record label BMG, has admitted she’s ‘nervous’ as it’s her most ‘vulnerable’ collection of songs to date.

The mother of two has revealed that she penned the album in just 10 days and said: ‘I’m nervous. The record is vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before – certainly not over the course of a whole album.

‘I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now.’

Those events include the breakdown of her marriage toĀ Stranger Things actor David, 50.

She continued: ‘At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs which try to delve into why we humans behave as we do, so the record is a mixture of fact and fiction which I hope serves as a reminder of how stoic yet also how frail we humans can be.Ā

‘In that respect I think it’s very much an album about the complexities of relationships and how we all navigate them. It’s a story…….’

Lily’s new LP will be her first since her fourth studio album No Shame dropped in 2018.

The pop star released four albums between 2006 and 2018 and had huge hits with tracks including Smile, The Fear and Not Fair.

The LDN hitmaker previously revealed she had found solace in making new music following the heartbreak.

On her Miss Me? podcast, she said: ‘Music is the one place where I can let it all go. It’s almost like therapy. I like to write and record at the same time with somebody else in the room – there’s something therapeutic about it.Ā

‘My producer or my co-writers become almost like therapists because I’m processing the things that I’m going through in real time … I can do that in music, but I can’t really do it when I’m talking to friends or my parents.Ā

‘It doesn’t mean I’m being inauthentic … I just don’t feel like I can sum things up properly. But I can do it in a three-and-a-half minute pop song.’

Last week, Lily extended an olive branch to DavidĀ after revealing she became suicidal following his three-year affair.

Lily was left in ‘agony’ when she allegedly discovered the actor had a secret profile on the celebrity dating app Raya.

The pop star joined the app herself, pretending to be ‘looking for women’ – and allegedly found that David had already set up a dating profile.

Their split led to her to check into a £8,000-a-week trauma treatment centre to focus on her mental health.

Now in a more positive place, Lily reflected on their relationship, admitting there were still ‘lots of good things about it’ despite the heartbreak.

She told British Vogue: ‘My kids had an amazing experience living in America for five years, and I have a lot of compassion for my ex-husband.Ā

‘I think we all suffer.’

The kind words towards her ex came after Lily revealed sheĀ ‘came close to relapsing on drink and drugs and developed a really, really bad problem with food’ as a result of her split from David.

She said she knew she needed to check herself into a facility when she realised she ‘wanted to die’.Ā

The singer told the publication: ‘I’ve had real problems with food over the past few years.’ [In the thick of the break up] ‘it got really, really, really bad.’

The star, who has been sober for six years, added: ‘The feelings of despair that I was experiencing were so strong. The last time that I felt anything like that, drugs and alcohol were my way out, so it was excruciating to sit with those [feelings] and not to use them.’Ā

On putting herself into a residential facility, she shared: ‘I’ve been into those places before against my will and I feel like that’s progress in itself. [on her self awareness] That’s strength.Ā

‘I knew that the things I was feeling were too extreme to be able to manage, and I was like, ‘I need some time away.”

In March, as she held a live recording of her podcast, Lily said she was still grappling with her breakup.

She admitted: ‘I am not over it. I am sort of running away. Maybe I will have a nervous breakdown.’

In August, Lily confirmed she’s moving out of her New York townhouse following her split from David.

The former couple moved into the art deco home in Brooklyn in 2020 shortly after their Las Vegas wedding, with the beloved property even featuring in Architectural Digest.

It was then revealed last December that their relationship was over, with reports soon following that the Stranger Things actor had cheated on the singer.

And in a bid for a fresh start amid her marriage woes, Lily has purchased an ex-council flat in London, and recently told how she’s thrown herself into decorating which has ‘helped’ her through her ‘hard time’.

The Smile hitmaker told The Mirror how she’s been taking inspiration from interior design magazines, remarking: ‘I’m really enjoying those at the moment. I’ve obviously had quite a hard time and that’s really helped me.’

Speaking on her Miss Me? podcast back in March, Lily opened up about her new property, which she’ll live in with her two daughters, as she chatted to co-host Miquita Oliver.

She shared: ‘This flat that I’ve bought, is in a social housing building, I have kind of given myself a ‘get out’ clause because it is slap bang in the area which I grew up in, so I don’t feel like I am coming from outside and coming into the area and gentrifying it.’

Lily added: ‘I have wanted to live in this building since I was a baby, it’s been a dream of mine forever and finally a flat became available in here and I was in a position to buy it and I did. But I know people have got judgement around it.’

Elsewhere, the stunning New York abode Lily left behind features an eye-catching tiger-print media room and a luxury kitchen inspired by The Godfather.

It also boasts floral Parisian-inspired rooms and a stunning walk-in wardrobe filled with designer goods.

Lily and ex David completed renovations on the property in 2023 with the help of interior designer Billy Cotton and architect Ben Bischoff, with the then couple giving a tour to Architectural Digest.

However, in May, Lily admitted she felt ‘feeling incredibly low’ and lonely in her New York City home as she candidly opened up following her break-up.

The songwriter, who confirmed her split from David in January, explained that she has been feeling ‘extremely heavy’ as she ‘doesn’t have that much to do here’ in the city.
