Lily Allen Promotes Ticket Scam During Tour Launch

Lily Allen was left red-faced after she accidentally plugged a scammer reselling fake tickets for her Glasgow show.

The singer, 40, kicked off her West End Girl tour on Monday as she took to the stage at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. 

But ahead of the show, in an attempt to help fans get their hands on last minute tickets, Lily fell victim to a scammer. 

A now-deleted post on social media, which Lily reshared, saw the scammer write: 'Hello there anyone in search of tickets for tonight show in  Royal Concert Hall. My partner and I won't be available to attend the game and we have Arena Row C tickets Going Face Value DM if you're interested. #LilyAllen #Glasgow #Tickets.' 

Lily was quick to repost the scammer's fake ticket sale - and was quickly called out by her fans. 

'Not lily allen promoting a scammer im dead,' one fan wrote, to which sheepishly Lily replied: 'I didn't mean to, i was just trying to help.'

Sharing a screenshot of the tweet, another fan wrote: 'Not Lily Allen sharing an obvious scam ticket reseller who claims they can’t attend her "game" tonight…'

After Lily's first show, some fans

While they delighted in the time Lily was on stage playing her new album from beginning to end, some took issue with the first half of the show.

A string trio entertained the audience with a 55 minute instrumental performance of some of her biggest hits, including Not Fair, The Fear and Smile.

This segment of the gig received mixed reviews, as some branded it 'funny and camp' - while others said it was akin to a 'primary school assembly sing along'.

Sharing their thoughts on X after the concert, critics said: 'This is like a primary school assembly sing along. Let's get something else for the arena tour';

Despite the uncertainty over the string performance, when Lily did eventually come on stage after a brief break, it seems her show was worth waiting for.

Sharing their thoughts, fans wrote: 'Lily Allen performs West End Girl. One of the most incredible and moving stage shows I've ever seen. So glad she decided to open the tour in Glasgow. Thrilled to have been there';

'Just out of Lily Allen and that is literally what we've been begging artists to do for years. A visual performance of a great album played from start to finish'; 'Imagine being naff about going to a show and getting exactly what is advertised? What don't y'all understand about "Lily Allen performs West End Girl"?'

One fan pointed out that it had previously been announced that Lily would only be performing songs from West End Girl.

Lily was seemingly back to her best after revealing she had lost her voice - just days before she was due to kick off her West End Girl tour - her first in seven years.

She took to social media on Wednesday to share a new video while attempting to complete her rehearsals for the tour.

In the clip, Lily was surrounded by members of her crew as she sings: 'Five days until the tour and I have lost the lower voice and the [vocal] register of my voice which is really cool.' Lily's voice appeared croaky and breaking at points as she snuffled towards the end of the clip.

Lily's show will now be moving to Liverpool, Newcastle, Bristol and Cardiff.
