Lily Allen once lied to a former hook-up that she’d had a hip replacement, because she didn’t want to admit to having had liposuction.
The singer, 40, underwent the cosmetic procedure to remove fat from her bottom and thighs in her early 20s, leaving her with some surgical scars.
However, she was once ‘too embarrassed’ to fess up to having the surgery during sex with a rapper, that she resorted to pretending her scars were from a hip operation.
Lily made the confession during an appearance with best pal Miquita Oliver on Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s Dish podcast last year.
After much prodding from Nick to recount the tale, the actress recalled: ‘I once got off with a rapper and we were in a hotel room, he was behind me…
‘I’d had liposuction in my early 20s on my bum and my thighs and I have a couple of scars. And he was behind me and remarked on the scars. He said, “What are those from?”‘

She went on: ‘And I was too embarrassed to reveal I’d had liposuction, so I said I had a hip replacement. Somehow thinking that was sexier than lipo!’
Her admission sent Nick and Angela into fits of laughter, as Miquita quipped: ‘I think she was like 24 at time. Now every time said rapper sees Lily do something very physical he thinks, “She’s so incredible, so inspirational!’
While Nick chimed in: ‘He sees her doing Pilates on Instagram and he’s like, “Go Lily! On that Pilates machine with her metal hips!”‘
As the presenter voiced how hilarious he found the story, Lily admitted that she also now loved recounting the once-embarrassing incident, as she felt it summed up her headspace at that time.
She said: ‘I love that story because it’s so indicative of how absolutely out of my mind I was in that period of time.’
It comes just weeks after Lily announced she’s stepping away from her own podcast, which she hosts with Miquita, to focus on new music following a challenging year.
The Smile hitmaker revealed at the time that she’s taking a break from Miss Me? to concentrate on other projects, including her long-awaited return to music.
Speaking on the podcast last month, Lily told listeners: ‘I do have some news to share with everybody.

‘Monday’s Miss Me? will be my last for a while because I’m going to be stepping away from the podcast to do some other things. I need some quiet reflection time.
‘I love it here, and I’m not leaving because I’m upset about anything. It’s a big commitment during the week and I won’t be able to give it 100 per cent as I have other things going on at the moment.
‘I just have to focus on some other stuff for a little bit, and I’m very grateful for the experience, I’ve had so much fun, and I’ve really enjoyed our live shows, especially, at the beginning of the year.’
She clarified that the departure wasn’t going to be permanent, adding: ;But it’s not goodbye forever, it’s just goodbye for now while I go and do some new stuff for a little bit.
‘I’m not closing the door forever, I will come back and say hi now and then.’
Miquita – who is continuing the podcast with guest host Jordan Stephenson – admitted that she had been ‘scared’ when her BFF first told her she was taking an extended break.
However, she went on: ‘But I feel very different now. I feel really proud of us – I’m not going to cry because it’s not a sad day – but I can’t believe that we had a silly little idea and it’s turned into what it’s turned into.’
It’s been a challenging year for Lily, following her split from husband David Harbour, 50, whom she had relocated to New York to be with.

But the Not Fair star is putting her heartbreak behind her, teaming up with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin earlier this year to put the finishing touches on her upcoming album – as she gears up for a major pop comeback.
Last month, she confirmed she’s moving out of her New York townhouse following her split from her husband.
The former couple moved into the art deco home in Brooklyn in 2020, shortly after their Las Vegas wedding, with the beloved property even featuring in Architectural Digest.
It was then revealed last December that their relationship was over, with reports soon following that the Stranger Things actor had cheated on the singer.
And in a bid for a fresh start amid her marriage woes, Lily has purchased an ex-council flat in London, and recently told how she’s thrown herself into decorating, which has ‘helped’ her through her ‘hard time’.
The star told The Mirror how she’s been taking inspiration from interior design magazines, remarking: ‘I’m really enjoying those at the moment. I’ve obviously had quite a hard time, and that’s really helped me.’
Speaking on Miss Me? back in March, Lily opened up about her new property, which she’ll live in with her two daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12.
She shared: ‘This flat that I’ve bought is in a social housing building, I have kind of given myself a “get out” clause because it is slap bang in the area which I grew up in, so I don’t feel like I am coming from outside and coming into the area and gentrifying it.’
She added: ‘I have wanted to live in this building since I was a baby, it’s been a dream of mine forever, and finally a flat became available in here and I was in a position to buy it and I did. But I know people have got judgement around it.’
