Lil Nas X traded in the music studio for the open road on Sunday as he completed the New York City Half Marathon.
The Old Town Road rapper – born Montero Lamar Hill – was pictured dashing down the pavement with a smile on his face.
But the 24-year-old chose an unusual pair of footwear for the grueling 13.109 mile trek – a pair of high top Coach sneakers.
The clunky yet stylish white sneakers didn’t appear to be the best choice for long-distance running, but Nas didn’t let any signs of discomfort show as he jogged through the big city.
Lil Nas X – who recently offered an explanation about his controversial new single J. Christ – beamed with happiness as he hit the pavement, clad in a long-sleeve green ‘NYC Half Marathon’ top.

The marathon – which clocks is in at just over 13 miles – is quite the accomplishment for the rapper.
According to Page Six, Lil Nas X had never ran more than three miles before – and had also never gone for an outdoor run before.
The rapper ended up selecting the Coach footwear as he didn’t even own a pair of real running shoes. Lil Nas X did make a stop at the sneaker store to buy an actual pair of running shoes, but unfortunately it was closed.
Ultimately he dashed down the pavement in Coach.
The run clearly took a toll on Lil Nas X – he shared photo of him resting in a wheelchair after the race and celebrating with a bubble gun machine.
‘Hey at least i made it tuh,’ he wrote.
The rapper was one of several celebrities taking part in the race – T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach were also seen in the race.

It’s a surprise the rapper wasn’t wearing his own collaboration with fashion house Coach.
The rapper has a line of neon-hued clothing and bags done in collaboration with Coach, including a high of high top sneakers priced at $325.
‘I definitely want to start my own line. I want to bring something brand new to the industry. I don’t know exactly what that is yet, but when we get there, I know that everybody’s gonna love it,’ he told Vogue last year.
