Lewis Hamilton tucked into a huge stack of pancakes as he celebrated his 41st birthday on a luxury ski trip with friends.

The Formula One racing driver is known for his love of the sweet breakfast, calling pancakes his ‘weakness’ and indulging in up to eight every morning on his off-season winter breaks.

He looked blessed as he held gratitude hands over the chocolate pancakes which were topped with ‘happy birthday’ candles, while four balloons were up behind him.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the athlete confessed he has had ‘a very draining year’ and is grateful for a break to spend time with friends and family.

He wrote: ‘I’m incredibly grateful for this break. Time to disconnect, recharge and find a bit of inner peace.

‘Time with family and friends replenishing with rest and good laughs has been everything I needed after a very draining year.

‘In a world that moves so fast where we’re constantly being pulled in so many directions, truly disconnecting has been the most amazing feeling.’

Lewis went on to encourage his fans to use the new year to inspire positive change and growth after his beloved dog Roscoe died last September.

‘I’m conscious that we’re entering the Year of the Horse and leaving behind the Year of the snake.

‘The time for change is now. Starting new routines, leaving behind unwanted patterns and working on growth.

‘Let go of things that don’t serve you. This can take time, there will be things you can’t get rid of immediately, but it starts with the first step.

‘Even though the world can seem like a mess, I hope that you’re staying focused on living life to the fullest.’

The athlete concluded: ‘Be you and never forget who you are. I learnt that from many of you who told me this in 2025, and I’ll never forget again!

‘Your support means the world to me, and I’m here for you too. You are never alone. Let’s take it one day at a time, one step at a time.’

The racing driver recently admitted to an ‘unbearable amount of anger and rage’ following another disappointing day with Ferrari.

His latest setback saw him qualify only 16th in Abu Dhabi – which, alarmingly, represented progress after the horror shows of recent weeks, having qualified 20th and last in Las Vegas, and 17th in Qatar.

He said: ‘I don’t have the words to describe the feeling inside me. There is just an unbearable amount of anger and rage. There is not really much I can say about it.’

The seven-time world champion is now likely to finish without a podium for the first time in his 19-year career.
