One fan joked that it was ‘the most expressive I’ve seen Leo outside his roles.’

‘More personality out of this man last night than I’ve seen outta him in 25 years, someone else chimed in.

‘He realizing he really runs this s**t now and can afford to goof around and be silly,’ another fan noted.

King Of Memes

DiCaprio may have dethroned Ben Affleck as the king of memes after his hilarious displays at the ceremony went viral on social media.

He attended the star-studded event with the cast and crew of his acclaimed film One Battle After Another, which earned him a Best Actor nod and a coveted Best Picture win.

DiCaprio was seated next to his mother Irmelin Indenbirken, 82, and co-star Sean Penn during the three-hour ceremony held in Beverly Hills and broadcasted live on CBS.

DiCaprio was the unexpected life of the party as the notoriously private star was frequently caught making funny expressions.

In a now-viral clip, DiCaprio was seen putting on an extremely animated display while interacting with someone at another table during a commercial break.

He pointed at his own eyes before playfully pointing at the offscreen person, letting them know he was ‘watching’ them before excitedly waving his fingers around and clapping.

He lifted one eyebrow in a suspicious manner and then made a flurry of bizarre facial expressions, including one where he pressed his index finger to his lips before erupting with laughter.

Fans admitted that they ‘loved’ seeing this rare side of DiCaprio, who often hides himself behind N95 masks when in public.

‘I am literally howling… this is the most animated i’ve ever seen him in my entire life,’ penned one X user.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, professional lipreader Nicola Hickling was able to help decipher some of what DiCaprio was saying in the clip.

According to Hickling, DiCaprio was heard telling a mystery pal about ‘K-pop’ and that he ‘was watching’ them.

Hickling’s reading was backed up by several X users, who were convinced DiCaprio was communicating with his One Battle After Another co-star Chase Infiniti, who is reportedly a huge fan of the K-pop music genre.

Roasted About His Younger Girlfriend

DiCaprio’s fun faces didn’t just occur during commercial breaks.

The star had plenty of reactions to Nikki Glaser’s jokes about him in her explosive opening monologue, where she made reference to the Epstein files, CBS News’ recent ‘anti-work’ overhaul and DiCaprio’s infamous dating life.

Glaser took a major dig at 51-year-old DiCaprio’s reputation for dating women under the age of 25 as she applauded his performance in the nominated film One Battle After Another, which she jokingly referred to as ‘One Man-Bun After Another.’

‘What a career you have had,’ she said to DiCaprio. ‘Countless iconic performances. You’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, and an Oscar.

‘The most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish that all before your girlfriend turned 30. It is just insane.’

DiCaprio is currently in a relationship with 27-year-old Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti.

Glaser then apologized to DiCaprio for the low blow but explained that people ‘known nothing else’ about the star.

‘Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke. It is cheap. I tried not to, but, like, we don’t know anything else about you,’ she explained, before adding, ‘There’s nothing else. Open up! I’m serious!’

Glaser claimed she ‘searched’ for more information about DiCaprio’s private life but ‘the most in-depth interview [he has] ever given was for ‘Teen Beat’ magazine in 1991.’

She then directly quoted a ridiculous answer DiCaprio, who would’ve been in his early 20s, once gave to the 90s magazine.

‘Is your favorite food still ‘Pasta, pasta, and more pasta?’ she asked, before encouraging DiCaprio and the laughing audience to ‘look it up.’

A screenshot of DiCaprio giving a joyful ‘thumbs up’ during the ceremony quickly began making the rounds on X and Instagram.

Lady Gaga Snub

In 2016, social media erupted within minutes of Lady Gaga barging past DiCaprio at the Golden Globes.

The hullabaloo was over the Revenant star’s reaction to being accidentally shoved by the pop star as she made her way to the podium to accept her Best Supporting TV Actress gong.

The cameras caught a classic candid moment as the singer made her way through the crowd following the surprise announcement of her name from the Best Supporting Actress nominees.

The songstress seemed to be in a bit of a daze as she squeezed between the seats – and didn’t even notice when she ploughed her way past Leo’s protruding elbow, which he had unwisely left sticking out in her path.

The actor was sharing a laugh with someone at his table with his arm on the back of her chair, oblivious the platinum blonde was on a collision course behind him.

While Gaga didn’t even flinch, her fellow nominee appeared to be freaked out when he looked up the see it was her who had barged into him.

After rolling his eyes, the merry star put his arm back on his seat, while Gaga made her way to the stage.

Later in the evening when he discovered it had become a viral sensation he told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Oh lord, that’s trending, huh?’

‘I just didn’t know what was passing me. That’s all!’ he added.

Ricky Gervais Roast

In 2020, Ricky Gervais took aim at Prince Andrew at the Golden Globes, using the royal’s controversial relationship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein to make a joke about DiCaprio’s string of younger dates.

Discussing the actor’s movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Gervais complained it was too long.

He joked: ‘Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end, his date was too old for him.’

Amid laughter from the star-studded audience, Gervais added: ‘Even Prince Andrew is like, ”come on Leo mate, you’re nearly 50, son.”‘

Inside the event, cameras caught Leo’s reaction.

It seemed the actor – who was then dating 22-year-old Camila Morrone – was able to poke fun at himself, blushing and smiling while the rest of the room cracked up.

Cheeky Kiss For Co-Star

The actor has enjoyed plenty of sweet moments at the Golden Globes as well.

In 2009 he was pictured blowing a kiss to his Titanic and Revolutionary Road co-star Kate Winslet.

Winslet took home the Best Actress in a Drama award for Revolutionary Road.

The emotional actress was in tears as she spoke to DiCaprio, who was seated in the crowd.

‘Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you, and how much I’ve loved you for thirteen years,’ she said, as the camera panned to DiCaprio, who blew her a kiss.

‘I love you with all my heart. I really do,’ she gushed.

The duo famously first starred together in James Cameron’s Titanic in 1997, creating chemistry that became instantly legendary.

The film made both actors global superstars.

Tom Hardy Joke During Emotional Win

DiCaprio took home the Best Actor gong for his role in The Revenant back in 2016.

He was visibly emotional as he took the stage. ‘What an incredible honor,’ he began. ‘Wow, that meant a lot.’

‘To the other fantastic performances in this category, you guys were incredible,’ he added graciously.

After he won Best Actor for The Revenant back in 2016, he joked that his co-star Tom Hardy 'would never bury me alive and leave me for dead', unlike his on-screen character

‘Two years ago we were immersed in nature [during filming]. This movie was about trust and no one was more deserving of our trust than our director. The depths to which he and the entire crew went to make this film were incredible.’

He then made a joke about his co-star, who plays his friend-turned-nemesis in the film.

‘I want to thank my fellow actors including Tom Hardy who is a beast and who I know would never bury me alive and leave me for dead.’

He ended on a more sober note, making a case for indigenous rights: ‘I want to thank all of the indigenous people in the world. It is time we protect your land and heard your voices. It is time we recognize your history and protect your indigenous lands from corporate interests and people who are out there to exploit them.’
