But on Thursday the 50-year-old Academy Award-winning actor — who is dating 27-year-old model Vittoria Ceretti — was spotted sporting a concerning black knee brace during the activity.
The One Battle After Another star was dressed in a beige baseball cap, white T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers.
And his right knee was wrapped in the functional sleeve, supporting him while he engaged in the match.
Leonardo, who had a bandage on his thumb as well, is particularly fond of the game, which combines badminton, tennis, and ping pong.
In January he was spotted playing with Vittoria on a beach in St. Barth.

Leonardo has been going strong with the Italian supermodel since 2023.
He’s earned a reputation for dating much younger women, resulting in a fan theory that he has an ‘under 25 rule’ for his girlfriends.
But the Hollywood vet has defied that idea in his latest relationship.
Insiders recently dished that his octogenarian mom, Irmelin Indenbirken, is the driving force behind the change.
‘Vittoria’s quite different to the other girls he’s been with,’ a source told The Sun. ‘She was harder to impress, she’s very Italian and has high expectations.’
It was added: ‘Immediately she struck up a strong bond with his mother, plus she is very in demand — she’s the one with the full diary and jet-set life, not just following him around.’
In March Vittoria made rare comments about her age-gap romance with Leo in an interview with Vogue France.
She revealed for the first time that the couple met ‘in Milan. But I prefer not to go into details.’

Vittoria said the couple’s love for one another is strong enough to transcend jealousy between them.
She explained, ‘It’s something you learn: if what you’re experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there’s no reason to be alarmed. Because love protects and gives confidence.’
She told the glossy she has forged a close bond with her boyfriend’s family, particularly his mother.
Last November there was widespread speculation about whether Leonardo had popped the question to Vittoria, who was previously married to Italian DJ Matteo Milleri.
They first sparked dating rumors in summer 2023 when they were spotted on an ice cream date in Los Angeles.
