South Korean actor, Lee Sun-kyun, who starred in the Oscar-winning film Parasite was found dead in a suspected suicide on Wednesday at the age of 48.
Lee was discovered in his car in a Seoul car park after his actress wife, Jeon Hye-jin raised alarms to police after finding a suicide note.
At the time, the Parasite actor was under investigation for the use of marijuana and a substance – which a hostess at a high end bar claimed was ketamine.
Lee alleged that he had not knowingly taken illegal drugs, and passed toxicology tests.
He claimed the hostess – known only as ‘A’ – was attempting to blackmail him, and had filed a criminal case.

Who is Lee Sun-kyun’s wife, Jeon Hye-jin?
Jeon Hye-jin is an award-winning actress and was born on January 1, 1976 in South Korea.
She pursued a career in acting after she appeared as contestant in the 1997 Miss Korea pageant on behalf of Gyeongnam.
Jeon was also a directing student at Sangmyung University, Seoul at the same time, but never thought about a career as a performer.
However, this all changed after she met Chaimu theatre company director, Yi Sang-woo.
After introducing her to the world of film, Jeon quickly nabbed a few small film roles in dramas such as A Killing Story in 1998.
Following her pursuit of stardom, Jeon dedicated a great deal of her time to the theatre company and adopted the stage name of Jeon Yi-da.
She featured in several productions with the theatre group, including The Sogue, There, Unification Express and Shape.
The actress made her television drama debut in 2002, when she starred in Ruler Of Your Own World.

In 2004, she landed a main role in the KBS2 drama I’m Sorry, I Love You, playing Cha Moo-hyeok’s (So Ji-sub) sister, Yoon Seo-gyeong.
She also starred as the lead in the music video for Wonji in 2008- which is featured on the fifth album of Korean pop star, Kim Kwang-jin.
However, her star power truly skyrocketed when she played Consort Yeong in the historical drama The Throne in 2015.
For her appearance, she bagged a coveted Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.

As well as winning awards, Jeon has also been nominated for several according including KOFRA Film Awards, the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, and The Seoul Awards
More recently she has played Bang Joo-kyung in the 2022 movie, Hunt, and has taken on the role of Kim Eun-mi in the tv show, Not Others.
In 2024, she is set to feature as Hee Joo in Mission: Cross and will also be making an appearance in Korean drama series – I Am Home.

Parasite actor, Lee Sun-kyun and Jeon had been together for seven years before they tied the knot on May 23, 2009.
They welcomed their first son into the world on November 25, 2009, with their second following shortly after on August 9, 2011.
There have not been many details published about either child, with their identities kept tightly under wraps, despite their parents’ high profile relationship.
