Strictly Come Dancing star Lauren Oakley was reduced to tears on Monday evening’s instalment of It Takes Two after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s family left an emotional message following his show exit.
The former Chelsea footballer, 53, found himself in the bottom two with Amber Davies despite both being two of the highest scorers of the week.
Jimmy and professional dance partner Lauren scored 30 for their American Smooth to Purple Rain by Prince, meanwhile, Amber and Nikita Kuzmin scored 33 for their Cha Cha Cha to Break Free by Ariana Grande.
After performing again, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke unanimously voted to keep Amber in the competition.
But when Jimmy and Lauren appeared on the spin-off, they were reduced to tears after they watched his wife Natalie and their three daughters issue him an emotional message after his exit.
‘We’re so proud of you and your Strictly journey – you’ve blown us away every week,’ Natalie quipped.

Meanwhile, his eldest daughter Lauren added: ‘We’re so proud of what you’ve accomplished and that you’ve started from scratch. We can’t wait to keep dancing with you.’
His other child, Miah, continued: ‘Thank you Daddy for stepping out of your comfort zone for us – you’re absolutely amazing.’ Meanwhile, youngest daughter Khloe added: ‘Well done, Daddy.’
Finishing the message, Natalie added: ‘And Lauren, thank you for bringing out this new and fun side of Jimmy.’
This left Strictly pro Lauren wiping her tears away and she confessed: ‘It was setting her off already’.
When asked what his family made of his time on the show, Jimmy explained: ‘That was emotional. They are really happy – they have been so supportive.
‘Obviously, they were very sad after Saturday but very proud. It’s family time, it’s bringing everybody together and to see them and to see that message, I’ve got no words.’
Before his performance, Jimmy revealed that he had been left ‘frustrated and angry’ over a mistake he was continually making during rehearsals.
Jimmy confessed that he ‘complicates things’ every time he tries to learn the steps.

When Jimmy, who achieved his highest score of the competition on Saturday, was voted off he said he had ‘absolutely loved’ his time on the show
He said: ‘The first hit, I do them, and then after the third time trying, I complicate things, and I end up thinking too much about it and overcomplicating it, and then getting frustrated with myself and getting angry.
‘So, it’s a process that I just need to get out of. I don’t know what it is, but I haven’t cracked it yet in my head.

‘I think it’s just because it’s not natural, it’s not a day-to-day thing, it’s a new discipline.
‘And you can just see my face changing and my demeanour shifting. I just get really upset with myself.’

He then added: ‘The only thing you can do is dance as best as you can and then it’s up to the public.
‘I was actually quite happy to dance again because I wanted to do better than my previous one.
‘So listen, I have had a blast. From the people up there [pointing to the other couples], to the judges – thank you very much for your comments.’
His professional dance partner, Lauren, said she was ‘gutted’ about his exit and added: ‘We have had the best time and I am so proud of how far he has come.
‘And it proves that anyone can be a dancer if you put your mind to it. He’s a footballer! And he just danced like that.
‘We’ve had the best time and I’m just so proud and I feel honoured to have been able to teach you. You’ve been an amazing student.’
It comes after presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they will depart the show at the end of the series.
Claudia, 53, said: ‘We thank you for your beautiful messages. We’ve got another eight weeks on this incredible show and a Strictly champion to crown.’
Tess, 56, added: ‘We cannot wait to spend the rest of the series with you and our incredible couples.’
The remaining ten couples will take to the dancefloor for a Halloween special, when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday 1 November at 6.35pm
