Laura Hamilton’s Stunning Surrey House

A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has given fans an inside look at her stunning Surrey home.

In a video posted to home decor brand Lick’s YouTube channel in September, Laura, 42, gave viewers an in-depth tour of her property, which she renovated herself.

She moved into the home after splitting from her former husband, insurance broker Alex Howard. The pair had two children together, Rocco and Tahlia, but separated in 2022.

Here is a look inside the impressive job taken on by Laura that saw her totally transform her family home.

Beginning in the dining area, that Laura had converted into a kitchen-diner complete with two sofas for extra living space, she said she did not want a traditional dining room, as she felt that these are normally ‘the least used’ rooms in homes.

The kitchen had a marble island with a waterfall wrap, while the wooden cupboards had a chic glass section for the presenter to display all her glassware.

The bespoke table was complemented with rattan chairs and a wooden fruit bowl, while huge glass doors opened out to the garden.

Laura then took viewers through to the property’s utility room, which had a ‘secret’ door, built to look as though it served as a cupboard for storage space next to the television in the kitchen-diner.

The camera then pans to a downstairs toilet that contains a cylindrical sink with subtle plant-patterned wallpaper – with the taps and mirror finished in a classy shade of gold.

Moving on to the living room, Laura said that she had painted the ceiling but comically noticed a small patch of paint that needed re-doing as she presented the room.

Painted in a warm grey colour, the room feels like a ‘sanctuary’ to Laura, as she pointed out that the absence of a TV in the room was deliberate so that she felt more able to relax in that part of the house.

Showcasing a hefty wooden cabinet adorned with family photos, books and a small clock, Laura said that piece of furniture had been in every in which she had lived in since she was 19 years old, when she was given the piece by her uncle after moving into her first flat.

In the so-called ‘folly room’, the presenter showcased a guest bedroom finished in a dark blue colour that she said was the oldest room in the house, having been built in the 16th century.

Next up was her son Rocco’s room, which she had finished in black wallpaper decorated with green plants and beige paint on the opposite wall.

Laura said that such colour schemes were used in this room with the intention of giving it a more ‘timeless feel’.

She jokingly told viewers to ignore the various different Prime bottles collected in different colours collected by her son, quipping that ‘it doesn’t really work with the interior design’.

Finished in warm shades of pink and taupe, the bedroom belonging to Laura’s daughter, Tahlia, was notable for having pink wallpaper with orange-shaded plants.

Concluding the tour, the Place In The Sun host invited the cameras into the home’s master bedroom, which was finished apart from Laura noting that she needed to paint the door frames.

Featuring more wrapped wallpaper – this time with oak tones and tinges of gold – the daytime TV presenter said that she felt extremely happy with how the room turned out.

Commenting on what could be next for, Laura said that she just wanted to ‘enjoy’ the home, having spent so much time in renovating it.
