The Australian pop star took part in the time-honoured tradition of staging an April Fools' Day prank.
The 57-year-old sent her fans wild by announcing that she was dropping a surprise new EP.
But the album does not exist - and the singer explained how she pulled it off in an Instagram reel shared after the joke was revealed.
'Here's how I pulled an April Fools' prank on my fans. So I was laughing at this clip,' she began, before showing a short video of appearing on The Tonight Show Starring .
The comedian, who was on the show in character as fictional anchor-man Ron Burgundy, jokingly listed three of his favourite Kylie Minogue songs - Take Me to the River, Hot Air Balloon for Two and Nights - none of which actually exist.

The joke inspired Kylie to create a fake album featuring songs with the same names.
'I thought, "Wait this could be fun," so I mocked up a whole EP. I got team Kylie to post the clip just to plant the seed, then I've dropped a little teaser on my Story for midnight. Mysterious!' she explained.
'The clock hits 12 and boom, my brand-new EP Hot Air Balloon for Two is out now. Full track list everything. And the link takes you to...' she said, before revealing a screenshot of the music video for Kylie's 1992 single, What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before).
'Oh my god, this absolutely sent me!' Kylie enthused, adding, 'You know I love you all really!'
The pop star's fans went wild, with many admitting they had indeed been fooled.
'You now owe us,' said one person in the comments section, while another wrote: 'You got us!!'
'You did us dirty! But, for real, when are we getting new music?!' someone else chimed in.
One more said: 'Now this is how it's done!' while another commented, 'The way I absolutely fell for this.'
