was 's plus one at the Oscars, just as she has been for the 2026 and Critics’ Choice ceremonies.

However, the reality star fulfilled a different role at the event on Sunday than she had in any previous awards.

During the Oscars, Timothee, 30, was beaten by in the category for Best Actor, despite having been a frontrunner for his performance in Marty Supreme.

And while we are used to seeing the businesswoman, 28, and actor's PDA filled appearances for the cameras, this ceremony was slightly different as Kylie 'became the star'.

Body language expert believes that the power balance in their relationship has shifted in her direction.

She told the Daily Mail: 'In body language terms this was without doubt Kylie's night.

Kylie Jenner was Timothee Chalamet's plus one at the Oscars, just as she has been for the 2026 Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice ceremonies

However, the reality star fulfilled a different role at the Academy Awards event on Sunday than she had in any previous awards (both pictured at the Vanity Fair Oscars party)

'Having spent so many ceremonies as Timothee's plus one, clinging to needily his arm in the role of the reality girl with the A list star of the moment, instigating and choreographing all the PDAs to show an almost maternal style of devotion and support while he allowed the bestowed kisses and tactile behaviours.

'The Oscars was the moment when the power balance appeared to shift in her direction, with a dream-crushed Timothee suddenly and dramatically instigating and performing acts of more smitten devotion and attraction, while she either posted her own Jessica Rabbit - style internet-crashing post ceremony video to attract her own fan attention like a human magnet, or stood working the after show red carpet cameras like the star while he watched like a fan from the sidelines.'

Judi noted that while they may have looked loving during the show, there was a 'one key difference that hinted at a seismic, active change in narrative'.

She explained: 'At previous awards shows Kylie has looked desperately keen to perform intense attachment signals with Timothee, wrapping her hand around his arm or placing a territorial hand of ownership onto his thigh.

'She has held his head in place as they kiss and used encircling rituals to show off her love for him.

'At the Oscars, when the cameras did come to them, they were seen looking superficially loved-up but those tactile traits from Kylie appeared to be missing.

'Timothee seemed keen to ride out the knuckle-biting experience with a more solitary look, sitting slightly slumped in his seat as he suffered his roasting from the stage, while Kylie leaned in towards him wearing an eye expression that looked like a polite warning to the host to back off.

'But we saw no exchanged glances, passionate kisses or the usual clinging touches on live camera from Kylie, who looked suddenly very hands off.

And while we are used to seeing the businesswoman, 28, and actor's PDA filled appearances for the cameras, this ceremony was slightly different as Kylie 'became the star'

'Her headline-stealing personal video seemed to be a statement of intent from Kylie to hold her own at this event, as it made her look like the star prepping to appear and teasing anticipation from her fans rather than her usual role of a supportive plus-one.'

It has been another tough awards season for Timothée, with the Marty Supreme star failing to pick up an Oscar for the fourth time at Sunday's Academy Awards show.

The actor's table tennis sports drama had scored him his third Best Actor nomination and was also a competitor in the Best Picture category, but failed to win big on the night.

Judi explained how, on the split-screen, Timothee was seen again in a very solo pose, sitting in a 'braced' position.

She said: 'He adopted a pose of projected calm maturity with his hands loosely clasped in front of his chest, with only two micro-tells of unbearable inner tension as his fingers began to wring together as he performed a hard blink.

'His smile as Michael's name was called looked undeniably sickly on a night when the losers had often been opting for overkill rituals like leaping from their seats and grinning wildly.

'Timothee stood to applaud Jordan, but there were no signs of consoling touching or hugging from Kylie as she must have watched her man's ultimate dream go down the Hollywood plughole.'

Also during the night, Timothee faced his fate during Conan O'Brien's Oscars monologue amid controversy over the comments he made about the ballet.

The Oscar nominee came under fire after he made a comment about ballet and opera during a chat with Matthew McConaughey for Variety's Actors on Actors on February 24.

Timothee said he hoped that the film industry and movie theatres would be able to survive, and then said: 'I don't want to be working in ballet or opera or, you know, things where it's like: "Hey, keep this thing alive," even though no one cares about this anymore.

'All respect to the ballet and opera people out there,' he continued before adding, 'I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason.'

His offhand comments caused a serious uproar in Hollywood and beyond, facing call-outs from industry greats like ballet dancer Misty Copeland and Steven Spielberg.

So, it is no surprise that his recent controversy was fodder for O'Brien on Sunday night.

'Security is extremely tight tonight. I'm just going to mention that,' tuxedo-clad O'Brien said to the crowd inside Los Angeles' iconic Dolby Theatre.

He then quipped, 'I'm told there's a concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.'

The camera then quickly cut to Timothee, who could be seen nervously smiling beside his girlfriend Kylie.

Following the ceremony, the stars headed to the infamous Vanity Fair Oscars Party.

The legendary bash, which was founded by former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter in 1994, immediately follows the Academy Awards every year.

But the party only added to the impression of 'Kylie now being the star' after Timothee's Oscars loss.

Judi explained: 'A presumably shell-shocked Timothee clung to her using signals of a new emotional dependency.

'As Kylie flashed a confident smile, standing facing the cameras and preening massively, including a super-confident and dominant pit-bare gesture, Timothee posed behind her with his total attention on her, looking for all the world like the devoted partner of an Oscar winner.

'As Kylie regarded the cameras rather than Timothee, he nuzzled her ear and whispered and planted the kind of bestowed kisses on her cheek that would normally come as a reward for achievement.

'It was Kylie throwing the classic A-list pose of the flirtatious glance over the shoulder at the press as she walked off hand in hand with Timothee, and there was even a previously unthinkable moment when Kylie posed alone for the red carpet cameras while Timothee watched dutifully from the side with his hands clasped behind his back in a gesture of polite submission.'
