Kyle Sandilands has opened up about an on-air physical altercation with his radio rival Ben Fordham on Wednesday.

The pair appeared as guests on the John Laws show to discuss the US presidential election, when things quickly got ugly after Fordham took a verbal swipe at the shock jock.

Sandilands, 53, responded to Fordham’s slam by throwing a glass of water in his face.

‘Of all the experts on American politics, what an honour for John Laws to have Kyle Sandilands commenting [on the election],’ Fordham, 47, said during the segment.

‘I’ll throw this water in your face, b***h; I don’t care who you think you are,’ Kyle responded.

Fordham continued to bait Sandilands, telling him: ‘Have a go… you talk tough to the paparazzi.’

Audio of the incident, in which Fordham can be heard reacting to receiving a soaking, was shared with listeners on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday.

‘Oh, Lord,’ Fordham said after the attack.

Sandilands then told him: ‘Don’t ever push a Brisbane boy,’

Co-host Jackie O Henderson laughed hysterically during the playback after Sandilands confirmed he threw the glass of water straight into Fordham’s face.

Fordham and Sandilands often playfully spar both on and off the air.

The 2GB host pulled an amusing stunt for Sandilands’ birthday in 2021 when he announced live on radio that it was in fact Kyle’s 60th birthday, not the actual milestone 50th.

And last November, Sandilands took a brutal swipe at Fordham after his KIIS FM show with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson won the radio ratings survey.

The Kyle and Jackie O show had been the number one breakfast program over Fordham’s 2GB show five out of seven times in the 2023 surveys.

‘If you want to know what happened to Ben Fordham, he is underneath us,’ Sandilands said at the time.

‘It’s like having sex with someone and they die. That’s Ben. Ben is the dead person.’

In response to Sandilands’ swipe, Fordham hit back with some very cheeky remarks.

‘Kyle sounds nervous. He’s probably stressed because of the competition,’ he said to Daily Mail Australia.

‘I’ve read what he had to say about me and it sounds like he’s got a kinky obsession. It’s worrying and flattering at the same time.’

Fordham added: ‘I’ve insisted we keep our relationship professional. He needs to understand boundaries.’

In 2023 Fordham sparked a public feud over Sandilands’ wedding invites after the 2GB star insisted he was too busy to attend his nuptials to Tegan Kynaston.

The former sports reporter told podcaster Jon-Bernard Kairouz he had better things to do in Orange during the million dollar ceremony held in April.

When the interview was brought to Sandilands’ attention during his own KIIS FM radio show, he jokingly cracked it and said: ‘He never got invited to the wedding.’
