Kristin Cavallari’s Chilling Confession About Estranged Father

Kristin Cavallari has admitted that she often lived in a state of fear when she was a child due to her father’s presence in her life.

The 38-year-old Hills star admitted on Tuesday’s episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast that she tries to make her children feel comfortable being open and honest with her as a reaction to how she felt ‘scared s***less’ around her dad Dennis when she was their age.

Kristin — who revealed in June that she cut ties with her father after he ‘traumatized’ one of her children — admitted on her podcast that he had a similar effect on her when she was younger.

Ironically, the reality star admitted that her father encouraged her to be as open and honest with him as she now wants her own kids to be, despite his actions allegedly making her feel like it was impossible to be forthcoming with him

‘I just was never really honest with him, where I got to experience not getting in trouble for being honest because I was terrified of my dad,’ she said, via Page Six.

‘I was always so, so scared of my dad. I mean, God, I never wanted to be around my dad, if I’m being completely honest. Like, he just always made me uncomfortable,’ Kristin continued.

She clarified that things were completely different with her mother Judith, whom she completely ‘trusted.’

‘I probably would have tried that with my mom. But I never really had the opportunity with my dad because I was so scared s***less of my dad,’ Kristin shared.

She added that it felt as if Dennis was ‘always judging’ her.

Kristin — who shares sons Camden, 13; Jaxon, 11; and daughter Saylor, nine, with her ex-husband Jay Cutler, 42 — said she emphasizes with her three kids that ‘honesty is the most important thing’ to her.

In June, during an appearance on Harry Jowsey’s podcast Boyfriend Material, she admitted she had ‘always had a rough relationship’ with her father Dennis.

She claimed that he ‘crossed the line with one of my boys,’ which led her to cut all ties with him three years earlier.

‘That’s a deal breaker for me, especially when he had zero accountability and no apology,’ she said

‘He traumatized my kids,’ Kristin claimed. ‘And I have no room for that in my life, and so that was it.’

'I was always so, so scared of my dad. I mean, God, I never wanted to be around my dad, if I¿m being completely honest. Like, he just always made me uncomfortable,' Kristin continued

During the interview, the Hills star avoiding specifying exactly what her father allegedly did to her children to make her cut him off from her family.

She also said that if the roles had been reversed, she would have done ‘everything imaginable’ to make amends with one of her children.

‘I would be like, “I am so f***ing sorry.” Showing up at your house, like, doing everything imaginable, and my dad in a lot of ways was like, “OK.”‘

She claimed Dennis ‘hasn’t tried’ to fix their relationship, and she clarified that the estrangement had nothing to do with addiction issues.

Kristin also reiterated her claims that her father is a ‘narcissist,’ which influenced the negative path their relationship took.

In the same episode, Kristin candidly spoke about the rebellious side she had when she was growing up..

The blond beauty — who revealed her children still sleep with her —  detailed her wild life growing up in affluent coastal enclave of Laguna Beach, California, as she drank, shoplifted and even had multiple run-ins with the law.

Kristin revealed on her podcast’s latest episode — titled My Career In Being The World’s Biggest Troublemaker — that her mean streak began in fourth grade.

She said: ‘In fourth grade I had a diary and for whatever reason I took my diary to school one day. And you know, at home I had written in it whatever I said. I wrote the word “f***.”

‘My teacher I guess took my diary  at some point and read my f***ing diary. I’m sorry that should not be allowed,’ she continued. ‘I don’t care if my diary is on school property, you shouldn’t be allowed to just take my diary and read it but she saw that I wrote the word “f***” and I got in trouble for that.’

Kristin went on to reveal that it was her eighth grade school year which became the true ‘turning point’ in becoming a troublemaker.

She said that she did many wild things including faking illness and calling out of school, taking trains without adult supervision, drinking booze at school, and even piercing her bellybutton with only a safety pin.

However, this bad behavior all came to a head in high school as she said:  ‘It was like my sophomore year, you know, shoplifting.

‘Listen in high school I didn’t need the money, it was for the adrenaline rush and to see what I could get away with, you know, and like kids do that s***.’

She revealed that she went to the store with her girlfriends and that they were putting stuff into their bags but she decided to layer clothing items on herself instead including multiple bras, T-Shirts, and shorts under her pants.

The store owner ended up calling the police as Kristin revealed: ‘So the cops came and they obviously found all of the clothes and everything else in my friends’ purses.

She also recalled when she and former boyfriend Stephen Colletti  (pictured together around that time) had been pulled over while having an argument and police had escorted her back to her father's house as she wasn't even 18 at the time

‘And I am going: “I didn’t steal anything, this is bulls*** like I shouldn’t be getting in trouble.” And the cops really believed me. I mean, I had them going. I was a great liar in high school.’

She continued by explaining that they had got down to the station and she and her friends ended up being patted down.

Kristin concluded: ‘So while I had everyone going and everyone believing me and then I got the old pat down and what do you know they found all of my articles of clothing.

‘And the cops were so mad at me for lying. As they should have been.’

The media personality then revealed that she paid the ultimate price for her scheming as her friends each had to do 15–20 hours of community service while she was punished with 100.

This comes after her ex Jay Cutler has accused his former wife of ‘borderline slander’ after she claimed to not have received any money from their divorce.

The 42-year-old former NFL quarterback — who recently came under fire for a ‘cruel act’ — appeared on the Take It Outside podcast where he blasted the mother to his three children.

He said: ‘Let’s think about this logically. “Not a penny,” OK. Married for, I don’t know, seven years or so, three kids.

‘You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It’s online. You can see the contract from year to year and the total amount at the end of 12 years. So, you go to divorce and each side gets a lawyer and then you go to court and there’s a judge.’

He went on to say that ‘there is not a judge in the state of Tennessee’ that would have signed an agreement which would state that Jay would ‘keep every single dollar’ he made throughout their marriage.

The former Chicago Bears player seemed to be responding to what Kristin said in a June episode of her series Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour.

At the time she talked about the funding for her lifestyle brand Uncommon James  as she said: ‘I wanted women to be able to afford great pieces that they could mix and match.

‘We have just expanded tremendously. We have four stores, we’re looking to open up a lot more. Our revenue is close to $50 million a year.’

She went on to explain that she owns her brand entirely before bringing up Jay’s name.

Kristin said: ‘I’ve never taken any outside funding. I have never gotten a penny from my ex-husband.

‘I didn’t get any money from our divorce, so let’s just clear that up. Thank you.’

The two were married from 2013 until she filed for divorce in 2020. It was finalized in 2022.

They share sons Camden, 13; Jaxon, 11; and daughter Saylor, nine.

Jay was previously the highest paid quarterback in the NFL when he signed a massive seven-year, $126million contract with the Chicago Bears in January 2014.

During his recent podcast appearance, he claimed that Kristin’s company Uncommon James was a ‘marital asset’ because it had been funded during their marriage.

In addition, he went on to brand her comments that she ‘didn’t get a penny’ as ‘irresponsible’ and that she rather got ‘a lot of bills’ during their contentious divorce.

He said: ‘I think it’s reckless. I think it’s borderline slander to insinuate that there was zero dollars split during the marriage that each side got.

‘It’s insanity. It’s completely false, completely untrue. It is, it just is. I’ve got a divorce decree. I’ve got something that’s signed by the judge — it’s, like, 67 pages — it says the number breakdown.’

He did refuse to reveal the exact number figures but guaranteed to listeners that it was ‘definitely not zero’ and that it was enough for her to comfortably live on ‘without a doubt.’

The athlete concluded that he felt like the situation being brought up in the first place was ‘completely unnecessary’ and that it pained him to even have to address it as he explained: ‘It gets to a point where it’s just untrue. Very untrue.’

Meanwhile, Jay drew fierce criticism online earlier this month after he posed alongside a wild animal he killed on a hunting trip in South Africa.

The retired athlete, who was arrested for driving under the influence and gun possession following a car crash last year, headed to the Eastern Cape city of Tyityaba to go hunting with a group of friends last week.

Earlier this month, the ex-Chicago Bears star sparked fury when he shared a photo on Instagram of a Sable Antelope he shot dead while out in the wilderness.

‘Kicked off the Africa hunt with a beauty. Sable down,’ he wrote as the caption.

A number of his followers were outraged by the sight of him smiling alongside the murdered animal, with one replying in the comments: ‘This is nothing to brag about.’

Another put: ‘Wow, Jay. You killed a wild animal in a place it’s rarely hunted and it had zero idea you were a threat. Suppeeerrrr impressive buddy.’

‘I went to Africa on a safari and saw the most incredible wildlife and never once thought about murdering them,’ said a third.

‘What a cruel “hobby” Jay. Shame on you for killing this beautiful animal. It breaks my heart,’ wrote a fourth.

While one user simply asked: ‘Why is this necessary.’
