Kristin Cavallari claims her estranged father and stepmom got into ‘nasty fight’ over MTV series Laguna Beach

Kristin Cavallari claims her estranged father and stepmom got into ‘nasty fight’ over MTV series Laguna Beach

Kristin Cavallari has claimed she witnessed her father Dennis Cavallari and stepmother Nicole King get into a ‘nasty fight’ over the hit MTV series Laguna Beach.

Cavallari, 39, was in high school when she became the breakout star of season one of MTV’s Laguna Beach, the show that followed teenagers residing in the affluent Orange County beach community.

But Cavallari’s involvement in the show sparked major tension in her household – and when it was time for the then-teenager to return for a second season, King allegedly threatened to leave if her stepdaughter continued appearing on the show.

According to the star, King had long harbored a ‘complete disdain for MTV’ after reading her stepdaughter’s application to be on the show and learning just how much Cavallari resented her.

‘I talked about my stepmom a lot in my [application] packet, and I talked about how I didn’t like her, and she was closer to my age than she was my dad, and which, okay, hi. I know, I cannot judge that now, but at the time, I judged it. I talked about how much I disliked her,’ Cavallari, who revealed last year she is now estranged from her father, said on the latest episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari.

Cavallari alleged her stepmother grabbed the packet ‘out of my hands’ to read what she had put down.

‘I remember Nicole grabbing my packet, literally grabbing it out of my hands in high school during the whole casting of it all, as I’m in the process of filling it out, grabbed it out of my hands, you guys,’ she said, ‘Read it, obviously saw what I said about her, and she was pissed. Rightfully so, I get it. But she always, because of that, she always had this weird, not weird, hate for MTV, this complete disdain.’

‘She actually threatened to leave when the second season of Laguna Beach was happening,’ she recalled. ‘She told my dad that if I did the second season, she was gonna move out. And my dad said, “Then get the f**k out.” It was a bit more intense than that,’ she said.

‘It was a really nasty fight that I witnessed between them,’ she elaborated. ‘Anyways, without getting into too much detail about that.

‘So she always hated MTV, and I think kind of hated me because of it,’ she said.

The Daily Mail has contacted Cavallari’s stepfather, Dennis Cavallari, for comment but have not yet heard back.

In response to Cavallari’s claims, King told People that the reality star’s recollection ‘does not reflect the truth.’

‘I honestly do not have anything to say. What was said does not reflect the truth. I care about my stepdaughter and wish her the best,’ she said.

Cavallari has had a difficult relationship with her father and has cut him out of her life. Last year she revealed she had been estranged from him for three years.

‘I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, cutting my dad out of my life. Such a weight has been lifted from me,’ she told People.

‘There’s not one day where I miss him. I don’t know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let’s say I was 35 [when I decided]. It was 35 years of buildup to that point.’

Cavallari said she made the decision to protect her kids, but did not go into detail.

‘He crossed the boundary with my kids,’ the Wild Cherry actress said, adding he ‘couldn’t even apologize,’ for what he had done.

The single mom shares sons Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 10, with her ex-husband, former NFL star Jay Cutler, 42.

‘Like, you’re just gaslighting me. I don’t have time for that anymore,’ she explained.

‘If someone’s not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it’s a parent, life’s too short.’
