Kristen Stewart got candid as she looked back at her movie-making career in a new interview with Variety on Thursday.
The Oscar-nominated star, 33, revealed that she now recognizes ‘queerness’ in her Twilight franchise and expressed her disdain for filming Charlie’s Angels.
‘I can only see it now, I don’t think it necessarily started off that way, but I also think that the fact that I was there at all, it was percolating,’ the star, who came out in 2017, said of the 2008 teen vampire romance. ‘It’s such a gay movie.’
As for Elizabeth Banks’ 2019 reboot of Charlie’s Angels, Kristen didn’t mince words either, admitting, ‘I hated making that movie. I don’t know what else to say’.
She then referenced the original 2000 film featuring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore, adding, ‘Honestly, the three … you can’t touch [that]. Cameron, Lucy and Drew … I love that movie. I love that movie! If that says anything.’

Kristen shared the screen with Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska in the reimagined version of McGee’s two Charlie’s Angeles films, which originally starred the iconic trio of Liu, Barrymore, and Diaz.
McGee’s 2000 film and its 2003 sequel, both based on the original five-season Charlie’s Angels drama featuring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith, amassed a total of $250 million at the global box office.
In contrast, the 2019 reboot earned a disappointing $73 million worldwide and was panned by critics.
However, Kirsten did argue that the Banks’ reboot was ‘a good idea at the time’.
She also went into more detail about the Twilight franchise, an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novels which costarred Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
‘I mean, Jesus Christ, Taylor [Lautner] and Rob and me, and it’s so hidden and not OK,’ she divulged.
‘I mean, a Mormon woman wrote this book. It’s all about oppression, about wanting what’s going to destroy you. That’s a very Gothic, gay inclination that I love.’
The star also detailed why she decided to come out on Saturday Night Live during her monologue in 2017.

‘It was cool to frame it in a funny context because it could say everything without having to sit down and do an interview,’ she explained, before adding that she wanted to be the one to make the announcement.
‘So what platform is that going to be on? And who’s going to make money on that? And who’s going to be the person that broke it?’ I broke it, alone,’ she said.
‘It wasn’t even like I was hiding,’ she continued. ‘I was so openly out with my girlfriend for years at that point. I’m like, “I’m a pretty knowable person.”‘
At the time, however, she was frustrated about the prying interest in her sexual identity.
‘For so long, I was like, “Why are you trying to skewer me? Why are you trying to ruin my life? I’m a kid, and I don’t really know myself well enough yet,”‘ she explained.

Kristen is currently engaged to Dylan Meyers. The Twilight star and the screenwriter initially met on a film shoot in 2013, and the two crossed paths again years later, thanks to a shared friend.

Kristen previously dated model Stella Maxwell, and producer Alicia Cargyle.
Stewart’s upcoming projects include starring alongside Steven Yeun in the sci-fi romance Love Me.
Following that, she will portray Lou, a secluded gym manager who falls for female bodybuilder Jacki (Katy O Brian) in Rose Glass’s thriller Love Lies Bleeding.
