Kirsten Dunst has garnered praise from fans after she offered her honest response to a potential Bring It On reboot.
The 43-year-old actress – who recently put on a stylish display at the screening of her new project Roofman – opened up about the topic to Entertainment Tonight this week on Tuesday.
Dunst played the role of high school cheerleader Torrance Shipman in the 2000 cult classic – which raked in around $90 million in the box office upon its initial release in theaters on a budget of $11 million.
It spawned six sequels – including five direct-to-video films as well as one television movie, with none of the original cast members reprising their roles.
However, when questioned if she was interested in a Bring It On Sequel, Dunst simply replied with, ‘No.’
The Hollywood star then added, ‘I’m like, leave good things where they are.’

She was then asked if being one of the producers on a sequel would draw her towards the possible project, and Dunst offered the same outlook.
‘No, no, no, I don’t need to put on a cheerleading outfit. I don’t even know what I would do, be a coach or something?’ she said.
Social media users quickly applauded the Spider-Man actress on X, with one penning, ‘Finally someone with a good mindset.’
Another wrote, ‘Exactly! Some classics are perfect as they are, no need to ruin the magic,’ and one fan added, ‘Respect to Kirsten. Sometimes classics are better left untouched – “Bring It On” is one of them.’
‘She gets it, that’s a classic. Don’t touch it,’ an X user typed, and one shared, ‘They should do this with a lot of things.’
Another commented, ‘When has that stopped studios,’ while a fan said, ‘She is 100% correct on this.’
‘There’s like 7 sequels,’ one pointed out, and another added, ‘She GETS IT!!!!! Everything doesn’t need a part two or sequel!’
A fan also wrote, ‘Respect that. Some classics are best left untouched,’ and one typed, ‘It’s literally 50 million bring it on sequels already.’

‘I wish more actors and producers had this mindset,’ another said, while an X user added, ‘Put her in charge of a studio so we can stop seeing so many prequels, sequels and reboots that destroy the original and ruin the IP. Oh look, a new Alien: Earth episode…’
Bring It On was released in theaters 25 years earlier in August 2000 – and also starred Gabrielle Union, Eliza Dushku, and Jesse Bradford.
The premise is: ‘A champion high school cheerleading squad discovers its previous captain stole all their best routines from an inner-city school and must scramble to compete at this year’s championships,’ per IMDB.
A possible reboot of the 2000 movie has been brought up before, with Union discussing the topic earlier this year in March during an interview with CBR.
‘I mean, it’s so interesting, because there may or may not be something in the works, that, you know, we’ve all been working on for a very long time,’ the star explained.
Last year, Dunst also talked about a Bring It On sequel and the one condition that could possibly bring her to a reboot.
‘I mean, it depends. Everyone’s bringing back their stuff, right?’ the star told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
She expressed that she would perhaps take part in a sequel, ‘As long as it’s not embarrassing.’

Other movies and television shows have gotten recent reboots, such as the Sex And The City spin-off And Just Like That.
It was announced last month in August that the HBO Max sequel series would not be returning following the season three finale.
The show was met with negative criticism from fans, with some claiming that they were ‘hate watching’ episodes.
A Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot is reportedly in the works – which also garnered backlash from fans.
Sarah Michelle Gellar – who notably played the leading role of Buffy in the original show – broke her silence earlier this year about stepping back into her character’s shoes in a revival.
However in a statement, the actress also made a pledge to fans of the beloved series.
‘I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to revisit Buffy and her world, but it was not something I could do unless I was sure we would get it right,’ Gellar explained.

In January, Netflix also revealed plans to reboot the 70s series Little House On The Prairie – leaving fans furious
‘This has been a long process, and it’s not over yet. I promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there…’
Superman – which was released in theaters back in July of this year – also faced some backlash from critics, with some branding the ‘woke’ reboot both ‘pointless’ and a ‘migraine of a movie.’

‘Please don’t ruin another treasured piece of literature and Americana,’ one penned over on X, while another added, ‘Just leave things alone! For the love of God.’
