Fans have hailed Anne’s new movie as an overwhelming success after it was confirmed for release on streaming platforms.
Streaming on Amazon Prime from May 2, the film chronicles the love affair between a divorced mother and the lead singer of the biggest boyband on the planet.
Taking to social media, fans reacted positively to the movie so far, as it landed a 100 per cent score on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
This comes from a small sample size of just eight reviews, as the film is still yet to be released worldwide.
Others have pointed out how the movie’s plot varies wildly from the book that it is based on.
The movie in question is The Idea Of You, which sees Anne, 41, play a divorced mother, Solene, who takes her teenage daughter to Coachella at the request of her ex-husband.

In a surprising turn of events, Solene unexpectedly strikes up a romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of August Moon, a famous boy band.
Reacting to the news that the film might be more jovial than the book in certain places, one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘This review of the idea of you is so interesting… it’s actually a romcom?’ – in response to a review that said ‘the romcom [genre] is back’.
Another wrote: ‘Looks like they axed a ton of the source material & completely shifted the tone to be a romcom…’
A third user who had also read the book remarked: ‘The script is so simple and sweet’ lets hope it is. Some of the excerpts I read from the book are terrifying’.
Offering a more general view of how the plots of films can often change from the source material they are based on, a further post read: ‘Probably one of the best things to ever happen is that adaptations of books are always different from the actual thing so let’s hope it becomes something nice to watch’.
The film, which sees Anne star alongside Nicholas Galitzine, premiered at SXSW on Saturday, ahead of its release in May.
Speaking to the audience at the post-screening Q&A, Anne became emotional as she spoke of how coming-of-age stories don’t have to solely focus on youngsters.
‘We talk about coming-of-age stories as being something that happens to you in the earliest part of your life, and I don’t know about you, but I feel like I keep blooming,’ she told her adoring fans.

Anne then had to hold back tears as fans cheered for her during the Q&A. ‘I can’t talk,’ she said as her voice broke.
A fan called out ‘I love you,’ to which Anne responded: ‘I love you so much.
‘You have no idea the gift that you’ve just given us with your responsiveness, by being so connected to every little nuance in this. I will never forget this screening.’
Anne added: ‘When Cathy [Schulman] and Gabrielle [Union] so generously offered me the part, I was thrilled to say yes.’
