Kim Kardashian has frequently hit headlines for her fashion choices, with the star frequently borrowing from historic archives to acheive her looks.
And the reality star, 45, took things to new extremes on Monday, as she shared a slew of snaps showing her enjoying a dip in the ocean while sporting a vintage Alexander McQueen gown, from the late designer’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection.
She looked breathtaking as she fully immersed herself in the water for the shots, which she shared alongside an image of the dress on a mannequin next to the McQueen’s Oyster Gown, which Kim wore to the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscars Party.
While Kim appeared to be taking her shoot seriously, thanks to the historic nature of the iconic fashion garment, her sister Khloe, 41, was feeling cheeky as she branded her sibling ‘a freak’ for taking the images.
Taking to the comments section, she wrote: ‘You are such a freak for being in that water at night! It’s SUPER DARK outside in those pictures!! Are you well?’

Kim looked incredible in the dress as she posed both lying down floating down in the water and also while stepping out of the sea and glaring into the lens.
While she certainly looked saucy, her choice to get the dress will no doubt set tongues wagging given its cultural significance having come from the Irere line.
Kim’s image of the dress alongside her Oyster dress was taken from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition Savage Beauty in 2011.
The collection was centered around water, and London’s Victoria And Albert museum said of the 2003 show: ‘The show opened with an underwater film directed by John Maybury that showed a girl in a torn chiffon dress plunge into the sea and appear to drown…
‘But this was not a poignant film of a lost innocent, for Irere, meaning ‘transformation’ in one of the indigenous Amazonian languages, was to tell the story of the girl’s metamorphosis from shipwreck survivor to Amazonian princess, a tale of redemption and survival.’
At the 2020 Oscars party, Kim wore the dress – which was one of only two ever made – to much uproar from fashion fans. She revealed the dress was bought for her by her then-husband Kanye West.
The second of the two dresses produced now sits in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has been described as “arguably the most important dress of the 21st century” by Andrew Bolton, the museum’s curator.
Her sister Khloe showcased her trademark wit as she commented on the post

Harper’s Bazaar detailed: ‘West located the design at Beverly Hills archival designer store Lily Et Cie, which is also where Jennifer Aniston picked up her vintage John Galliano for Dior gown that she wore to the SAG Awards this year….
‘Demi Moore, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jennifer Lopez and many more stars have also worn pieces from Lily Et Cie for prestigious events over the years, including the Academy Awards and the Met Gala.
Kim came under fire in 2022 for sported Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ dress to the Met Gala – and allegedly damaging the dress.
She revealed she forced herself to lose 16lbs in just three weeks in order to make it fit.
Marilyn’s glittering beaded gown was designed by Jean Louis, and has been on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, FL, after they bought it from Julien’s Auction for $4.81million.

Legend has it that the garment was so tight, Marilyn had to be sewn into the dress prior to her performance for the President.
Kim had the same struggle when she discovered the dress didn’t fit her, and began to cry when she learned that the dress could not be altered.
She told Vogue how she went on a ruthlessly strict diet deadline in order to slim down and wear the dress to the Met.
She said: ‘I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.’
Marilyn’s unique hourglass figure and exact measurements have been debated for decades, but one dress maker claimed she was 5’5″ tall, with a 35″ bust, 22″ waist, and 35″ hips. Her bra size was said to be 36D.
Kim once said of her own measurements: ‘I am a size 27 jeans… My measurements are 38, 26, 39. But remember I am 5’2″ and 1/2 and everyone carries their weight in different places.’
