Kim Kardashian defiantly posts videos of her kids’ controversial Christmas puppies after PETA Backlash

Kim Kardashian took to Instagram on Sunday night to share more content of the Pomeranian puppies she gifted her four kids for Christmas.

The 45-year-old SKIMS mogul has received backlash from both fans and PETA for purchasing the dogs instead of adopting from a shelter. 

But that didn’t stop her from uploading multiple videos of her two younger children — Chicago, eight on January 15, and Psalm, six — playing with the adorable animals over the weekend.

Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA, issued a statement decrying the luxe holiday gift and backing those who ‘rightly slammed’ the star.

Newkirk also called out Khloe Kardashian, who also surprised her kids with dogs, for failing to adopt locally.

‘Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that,’ Newkirk said in a statement obtained by Daily Mail.

In addition to Chicago and Psalm, the reality television personality shares North, 12, and Saint, 10, with ex-husband Kanye West. 

Sunday’s posts, shared via Instagram Stories, showed her youngsters crawling on the floor of her mansion with the dogs.

In another clip a gleeful Chicago, with playful glitter pasted on her cheeks, flashed a grin while cuddling a blonde dog alongside her mom, who held two darker dogs.

‘Ignoring the homeless animals crisis is inexcusably callous, and so we ask Kim and Khloe, who did the same thing, to call PETA or a local shelter the next time they want to bring an animal into their home — and try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis,’ said Newkirk.

Kardashian faced the wrath of online critics after she initially shared a snap with all four of the dogs cuddled up together on a couch and wrote, ‘Each kid got a puppy.’

Some fans took to Reddit to speak out against her approach to finding the household pets.

‘Puppies are not Christmas gifts for kids,’ one Reddit user wrote.

Another agreed, ‘Animals and pets are not gifts unless someone has really wanted that pet and will truly look after it. This is f***ed up.’

‘If they each got a puppy then it’s not special at all. How will they learn to love one pet as siblings when they each get a personal dog like it’s a Tamagotchi?’ someone else argued. 

Another person commented: ‘They don’t realize what a big responsibility having a pet is, they just have it for show and cause it’s small and cute and it’s something kids want but when the pup grows up they no longer care for it. Absolutely ridiculous.’

‘This is honestly so sad,’ said yet another upset social media user.

The four new canine additions to the family aren’t the only Pomeranians that Kardashian has.

She also has dogs Sushi and Sake, whom she adopted with her sister Kourtney Kardashian in 2017.
