Kieron Richardson has revealed how he and pal Jorgie Porter took on homophobic bullies who yelled abuse at him in the street.
The Hollyoaks actor, 38, said that his friend Jorgie, 36, who he has been pals with since they first met on the Channel 4 soap, was ‘amazing’ when he was targeted by vile homophobic abuse on a night out.
Kieron explained how he and Jorgie were getting in a taxi when a man started hurling abuse at him.
Speaking on the Mirror’s Invite Only podcast, he explained: ‘I did have (homophobic abuse) once in the street, Jorgie was with me actually and she was amazing.
‘We were getting in the taxi and they shouted some homophobic abuse or whatever. And then we were at the traffic lights with them together.

‘And then I just got really brave and went out the window and I went: “What did you just say?” And then he was like: “Nothing, I didn’t say anything.”
‘Then as the light turned on to green again, he got brave and cocky and then started shouting the abuse again.’
Jorgie admitted she was ‘so shocked’ by the comments and revealed she filmed the man yelling the abuse and posted it on social media causing the man to later be ‘fired from work’.
She said: ‘I was so shocked because I thought that doesn’t happen. I thought: “Oh my God.” And I wanted to give it back as well, I literally wanted to chase him.
‘We filmed them, and then I put it out there, because I was just like: “Absolutely not, you cannot get away with that.”
‘That’s my best friend, like, anyone who starts with my best friend, I’m like: “No, I’m having you.”
‘People knew who it was, so I think they got fired from work. But, you know, it was just a massive shock that that kind of thing still would happen.

‘You don’t want it to happen to anyone, but especially not Kieron, who is the best man in the world.’
The soap star came out as gay live on This Morning in 2010.
He married long-term partner Carl in April 2015 in a ceremony in the Peak District.
The couple announced they were expecting twins in December 2016 and they welcomed Chase and Phoebe Ray to their family in 2017.
When Kieron came out in 2010, his character on Hollyoaks was coming to terms with his own sexuality as he fell for bad boy Brendan Brady.
Carefully helping Kieron to come out in 2010, Phillip Schofield said: ‘Of course, this is on the telly and this is part of a character, but there are elements here that are in actual fact quite close to your life yourself. And what would they be?’
Kieron then revealed his truth as he responded: ‘The fact that I am gay in real life and at 20 years old I have kind of accepted it myself. Now I can finally relate to my character Ste, that he’s 20 and he’s going through things that I went through in my past.’
Phillip added: ‘The people that know you will know that this is no great surprise there, because your friends know, your work colleagues know, you’ve had the conversation with your parents, but you’ve never actually said it out loud.’

Looking nervous, Kieron continued to say that during his time on Dancing On Ice, earlier that same year, bosses offered him the chance to reveal his sexuality on the show.
He declined as he didn’t want his personal life to over shadow his time in the competition.
Keiron said: ‘But now I feel that it’s relevant and the storyline is relevant to some situations in my life and if maybe I could help people who are going through the same thing, then it’s a bonus.’
