Kid Cudi broke his foot after he jumped off the stage at Coachella in Indio, California on Sunday afternoon.
The rapper, 40, was a surprise addition to the weekend two lineup at the music festival, but all did not go well towards the middle of his set.
In a video posted on Twitter by a fan the musician — born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi — was seen getting off the Sahara stage towards the end of his 40-minute set.
He appeared off-balance, swaying back and forth, before launching into a jump which resulted in a rough landing. The Day ‘n’ Nite hitmaker — who announced his engagement earlier this week — fell down and struggled to get up.
He later took to Twitter to tell fans: ‘Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy.’

‘I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big,’ he added.
It’s unclear if he was getting off the stage to greet fans or perhaps be closer to the crowd before finishing his set. He had about one and a half songs remaining in his set according to the Desert Sun.
Instead a recording of Pursuit of Happiness played to end the show, and Kid did not reappear or give the crowd any parting words.
Coachella announced him Tuesday as a last-minute replacement for Vampire Weekend during the music festival’s upcoming second weekend.
‘On the pursuit of happiness,’ festival organizers wrote with the new lineup on Instagram, referencing the artist’s 2010 single.
Cudi also celebrated the announcement on Instagram, sharing a promo image.
‘INSANO BOY IS COMIN,’ he wrote in the caption, referencing his latest albums. ‘Who’s coming??’
The Cleveland-born artist dropped his ninth studio album Insano in January, followed by the sequel Insano (Nitro Mega) the following month.
Despite the painful end of his Coachella set, it was otherwise a great week for the musician, who revealed his engagement to fiancée Lola Abecassis Sartore on Wednesday.

The Entergalactic artist was all smiles with the menswear designer at they celebrated the launch of the Sonic spinoff series, in which he appears.
‘The smiles on our faces says it all! Love you to the moon and back,’ wrote Sartore on her Instagram Story, which he reposted with, ‘Love u more my angel baby.’
