Top celebrity chef Khanh Ong has paid a tribute to the show that made him a TV star.

In a surprising reveal, the 30-year-old restaurateur and book author said that he remains a fan of MasterChef Australia.

The popular cooking guru who stars in the SBS series Khanh Ong’s Wild Food says he still watches the hit cooking competition so he can keep up with the latest dishes and trends.

‘I think that MasterChef is continually growing and changing and the way that contestants cook changes from season to season,’ he said in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Friday.

‘And it’s really interesting because I learn from the show as well. MasterChef is usually how food trends start to take place in Australia.’

He told the publication that he credits the success of contestants serving up pasta dishes on MasterChef as creating renewed interest in the dish as a speciality.

Pasta used to be seen as something that is quick and easy, but now it’s come back and it’s a major art form that people kind of ignored for a little bit – they didn’t fully ignore it, but it was kind of on the back burner,’ he explained.

In a candid Q&A on his Instagram Stories, he was asked ‘what treatments/procedures do you get?’ as he waited in his cosmetician’s chair.

‘I get anti-wrinkle around the crow’s feet, under my nose and for the first time ever between my eyebrows. I get filler in my jaw (which I love every time I get it done),’ he wrote in the caption.

‘We have just started doing filler around the outside of my nose towards the bottom of my cheeks because [cosmetic nurse] Alex Pike said it was starting to deflate,’ the celebrity foodie added.

Khanh was also asked if there was a procedure that he had done that he didn’t like.

The food guru first rose to fame in 2018 on season 10 of MasterChef Australia came in third place.

He returned in 2020 for MasterChef: Back to Win and finished in ninth place out of the 20 contestants.
