Kelsea Ballerini revealed that she has suffered a heartbreaking loss after her beloved dog Dibs passed away this week.
The 32-year-old country star – who recently reconciled with her boyfriend Chase Stokes after two messy splits – took to her main Instagram page on Thursday to share the devastating update.
It comes a little over a year after the Cowboys Cry Too songstress revealed that Dibs had ‘inoperable cancer in his heart.’
Alongside a number of photos and clips of her dog from over the years, Ballerini emotionally penned in the caption, ‘my sweet dibs went to doggy heaven yesterday.
She added that, ‘he spent his last few days in his backyard looking at the sunshine and surrounded and visited by his forever people.’
The performer then reflected on the impact that Dibs had on her life after she adopted him back in 2015.

‘There are no words to articulate his role in my life, but i couldn’t have done the last ten years without him, and he will always be my soul dog…and i pray and believe we’ll find each other in every life.’
Ballerini further expressed that, ‘his love and reach can’t be captured in an instagram photo dump, or in a caption, but here’s a look at some happy from dibs.
‘Thank you for loving him so loudly with me. i feel like the luckiest girl in the world that i got to be his dog mom, greatest gift of my life.’
One image in the latest post showed Ballerini cuddled up next to her beloved pet while sitting on a couch outside as the sun set in the distance.
Another was taken not long after the star adopted Dibs – and she could be seen holding him when he was a puppy.
Other pictures showed the singer spending time with her adorable dog as they enjoyed lighthearted moments together.
A short reel showed Dibs strolling on the sandy shore of a beach while another captured him backstage at what appeared to be one of her shows.
Her dog was also a big supporter of her career – and one snap was taken as he wore a bandana that had ‘My mom is Entertainer of the Year’ printed on the front.

Stokes and Ballerini broke up for the first time last year in September – after initially being romantically linked in 2022.
The two stars rekindled their romance shortly after before splitting once again late last year in November. However, the pair have since reconciled shortly before the new year.
