She is the darling of British athletics who has not put a foot wrong since winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Her success has earned her lucrative brand deals with the likes of Nike, Omega and Rimmel London, leaving her with an estimated net worth of £4million.
But it seems Keely Hodgkinson could be in hot water after she made a video criticising American accents, suggesting they speak in ‘agitating and grating’ voices.
In her latest TikTok video, the 23-year-old filmed herself rolling her eyes and sipping on a drink to the sound of a woman saying, ‘And now I want to sit back and relax and enjoy my evening, when all of a sudden, I hear this agitating grating voice.’
Keely captioned the video: ‘When there are Americans in the restaurant’ and ‘They’re really the loudest in the room’.
Her video, which comes three days after she won a bronze medal in Tokyo at the World Athletics Championships, has received mixed reviews.

Keely’s video sparked backlash in the comment section and divided fans, with even the American Olympian Masai Russell wading in on the debate

One American fan commented, ‘God forbid we have fun,’ while another wrote, ‘Be nice to your American fans’ to which she replied, ‘Love y’all’.
Meanwhile, her fellow Olympic gold medalist, for 100m hurdles, Masai Russell, who is American, commented: ‘Hey, not too much!’ and Keely responded, ‘Y’all are the most fun’.
While others supported her views, as one person wrote, ‘So real for making this,’ and someone else added, ‘Preach, it is so annoying they are the worst.’
It comes after Keely was pipped to the World Championships by her training partner and room-mate, Georgia Hunter Bell, who placed second, and Kenya’s unheralded Lilian Odira.
She has been kept off the track for 376 days after a hamstring injury, and she was visibly gutted when she saw the results board on Monday.
It was later revealed Hodgkinson had been ill for the past few days and said: ‘It has been an absolute s***show, honestly.

‘I think when you look at some of the greats in all sports, there are years where they haven’t done as well, or they’ve missed podiums, or they’ve missed a complete year.
‘Somehow, I’ve managed to stay on that trajectory, which I think is incredible. At the end of my career, I think people will remember what you’ve won, not what you’ve lost.
‘This will just go down as part of my journey and on reflection, I’ll be happy.’
Keely has been contacted for comment by the Daily Mail.
