Kayla Itsines’ Shocking Confession About Her Fitness App Wealth

Kayla Itsines has dropped a surprising confession about her hugely successful fitness app.

The 34-year-old entrepreneur founded Sweat in 2015 with her ex-fiancé, now business partner, Tobi Pearce.

And it seems some of the exercises she designed for the popular app may even be too tough for her.

The revelation came when Kayla was answering a live fan Q&A on the Star Sessions podcast.

‘Do you still do the guides yourself?’ one fan asked.

Kayla smiled and replied: ‘Yes.’

However, she admitted she may have underestimated the difficulty of some of the more strenuous exercises.

‘Did you see me the other day? I did the leg challenge. I was like: “It’s easy,” because I put the challenge together,’ she said.

‘I was like: “Who is Kayla? I hate her”,’ she jokingly added.

However, Kayla added that she has always trained with intense dedication.

‘I’ve trained like that since I was at school,’ she said.

‘When Tobi and I sat down to make the guides, both of us were like: “Put everything into the guides”, because that’s how we train our clients and that’s how I train myself.’

It comes after Kayla’s staggering net worth was revealed in the Australian Financial Review Young Rich list.

She landed at number 40 on the Aussie line-up, with her fitness empire worth an astonishing $176million.

She kicked off the new financial year with a $5million boost to her net worth, cementing her status as one of the wealthiest young fitness influencers in Australia.

The Sweat app co-founder came in leagues ahead of Tammy Hembrow, who remains stiff competition thanks to her massive following and headline-grabbing personal life.

However, the Tammy Fit app founder came in at number 90 with a $58million net worth, less than half of what Kayla is estimated to be worth.

Behind both industry juggernauts is fitness influencer and podcaster Steph Claire Smith, who pulled in last place at 100 with a net worth of $42million.

Kayla first shot to fame more than a decade ago with her Bikini Body Guide e-book.

The personal trainer landed on the Australian Financial Review Young Rich List in 2024 at number 34, just a few spots behind Hollywood superstar Margot Robbie.

She made headlines in 2023 when she bought back her Sweat empire from US fitness giant iFIT.

Kayla, who kicked off her career in her parents’ backyard in Adelaide, also earns her money through a dog training app called Dogit, as well as commercial real estate.

After launching Sweat in 2015, Kayla and Tobi went on to sell the platform to US company iFIT for $400million in 2021, following a boom in home exercise when gyms and sports centres closed during the Covid pandemic.

However, iFIT struggled to maintain the Sweat brand’s success after taking the reins, and posted an $80million write-down after its first year of ownership.

As $20-per-month subscriptions declined after gyms reopened, the company continued to lose millions until Kayla and Tobi regained control in November 2023.

Kayla resumed her role as head trainer, while Tobi shifted his focus to ensuring the company’s long-term growth and sustainability.
