Kayla Itsines has opened up about the day she realised she needed to call off her engagement and break up with her ex-fiancé Tobi Pearce.
The fitness influencer and entrepreneur, 32, parted ways with the EzLicence CEO in 2020, with whom she shares a young daughter, and has remained tight-lipped about the separation until recent months.
Appearing on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast with Kate Langbroek, Itsines cited differences in personality between herself and Tobi, and that she had a gut feeling their relationship wasn’t working out.
‘I think this will relate to so many women, and it’s gonna sound really weird. But one day you wake up, and it just hits you. I woke up and I was like, “This isn’t working. This isn’t for me”,’ she recalled on the podcast.
‘Tobi is a great person, but he’s just not my person. It took time to realise that.’

Itsines previously made scathing remarks about Pearce, calling him ‘money-driven’ and their relationship a ‘battle’.
‘Nothing about my previous relationship was easy. It was always hard. It was always a battle,’ she told the Australian Financial Review last year.
‘We are the polar opposite of one another. I look back and think, “I have no idea how that all happened.”‘
Itsines’ comments come after sparked pregnancy rumours as she travelled to Sydney with her new husband Jae Woodroffe.

On Monday, the fitness mogul, 32, shared a photo to Instagram of ‘airport snacks’ as she arrived to Gold Coast Airport.
She then shared a closeup photo of the treats she purchased included a Crunchie bar, Kinder Bueno Chocolate, Nerds candy, Tic Tac and a bottle of water.
One of her friends then questioned whether she was pregnant as she indulged in the treats.
‘Are you pregnant? This is rogue AF from you hahaha,’ the message read.
Itsines shared the comment to her story and wrote: ‘My friends. Also no… I don’t think so.’

The female fitness coach is now married to Woodroffe after he popped the question in July 2022, before tied the knot in December last year.
She and Woodroffe also welcomed their first child together, a son named Jax, in January 2023.
Meanwhile, Pearce is engaged to Move With Us founder and former WBFF champion Rachel Dillon. The pair have since relocated to the Gold Coast after purchasing a stunning waterfront mansion for $7.3million.
The pair are set to marry some time this year.
