Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s Romance Grows Serious for the Holidays

Katy Perry’s whirlwind romance with Justin Trudeau appears to be getting more serious as the holiday season approaches.

The Teenage Dream singer, 41, and the former Prime Minister of Canada, 53, first sparked dating rumors in July following her split from ex-fiance Orlando Bloom, 48.

They made their official debut as a couple last month as they stepped out in Paris, France holding hands.

And now, Perry and Trudeau are currently ‘making plans for the holidays,’ according to PEOPLE.

2025 has been a ‘whirlwind’ year for Perry, the outlet’s source claimed, and the star is most ‘looking forward’ to wrapping up her Lifetimes Tour.

‘Without exaggeration, this year has been a whirlwind for her. She hasn’t even had time to really think about her life after the tour,’ the insider shared.

While her romance with Trudeau is an exciting new life development, Perry’s five-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, whom she shares with ex Bloom, is her top priority.

‘She’s a single mom now and a lot of that is going to come into focus next year,’ the source shared.

The same insider also dished on Perry and Trudeau’s dating life earlier this week, telling PEOPLE on Wednesday that the Grammy nominee is ‘excited’ by the politician. 

Perry is said to be ‘having a lot of fun’ despite being shocked she ‘fell for someone so soon’ after her split from Bloom.

‘Justin keeps making a big effort to see her and she’s excited about it. [She has] a lot of fun with him. It’s exactly what she needs right now,’ the source shared.

On how the relationship has changed Trudeau, the source added: ‘He is a much happier person now. Stresses are greatly diminished. And he is intrigued with Katy. They have fun together, laugh a lot, talk about everything.’

Trudeau and Perry first sparked dating rumors in July when they were seen enjoying an intimate hangout together during her Lifetimes Tour stop in Canada.

Days later, Trudeau was spotted in the audience at Perry’s concert in Montreal.

After that, the duo were spotted on several more outings together – including a now-viral yacht trip where they shared a steamy kiss. 

Sources told Us Weekly in September that Perry and Trudeau ‘decided to be much more private about’ their romance but that they are ‘very interested in each other.’

Weeks later, the couple made their relationship debut at Perry’s 41st birthday bash in the French capital on October 25.

Shortly before their couple debut, sources revealed Perry is ‘really into’ her connection with Trudeau, saying: ‘Katy is really into it. She’s very happy…

‘She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.’

Their romance comes after her split from Orlando. The former couple began dating in 2016 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.

They welcomed their only child, daughter Daisy Dove, in August 2020.

Bloom is also father to 14-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with his supermodel ex-wife Miranda Kerr, 42.

Over the summer, representatives told Daily Mail of the exes: ‘Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting….

‘They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.’

And a source told Us Weekly over the summer, ‘Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,’ while adding that the separation was not ‘contentious.’

The Woman’s World singer was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.

Trudeau announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau after 18 years of marriage in 2023. The exes share three children.

He was the prime minister of Canada from 2015 to March 2025.
