Katie Holmes cut a casual figure as she stepped out in NYC on Wednesday.
The actress, 45, is gearing up for her role in the Broadway revival of the Thornton Wilder’s play Our Town, with the premiere performance at the Barrymore Theatre set for September 17.
The rehearsals for the production comes weeks after the star sent her daughter, Suri Cruise, off to college in Pittsburgh in August.
Now officially an empty nester, the Dawson’s Creek alum stepped out to take care of some business while out and about in a gray A.P.C sweater that also had autumn colors of brown and red mixed in.
She also wore a pair of dark brown flats, stylish sunglasses, all while she carried a Tusting Como Explorer tote bag over her right shoulder.
Rounding out her daytime look for the day, Holmes pulled her long dark brown tresses back off her face and into a ponytail without a part.

Wilder’s popular 1938 drama is a story about life and death and appreciating ‘every, every minute’ in between, as reported by New York Theatre Guide.
First performed in 1938, ‘Our Town is a poignant look at everyday life – and everything that goes with it. Through its three acts — Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and Death and Eternity — the play dives into the passage of time, the significance of ordinary moments, and the universal experiences of being human.
The main story revolves around the Webb and Gibbs families, whose members each get a different lease on — and length of — life.’
This new revival on Broadway is set to officially begin its run at the Barrymore Theatre on September 17 and runs through until January 19, 2025.
Just last week, Holmes and Sykes were seen snuggling up with each other at the press preview for Our Town at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City.
