Kate Winslet was left with ‘lots of bruises’ after filming an infamously raunchy sex scene with Patrick Wilson.
The pair starred together in 2006 big screen romance Little Children, and twenty years on Patrick has spilled the on-set secrets behind the raunchy sex scenes.
Speaking on the It Happened In Hollywood podcast the US actor gushed of his Oscar winning co-star: ‘Kate was so cool and gracious and just a gamer – just like, “Let’s go for it”.’
‘There was never one awkward or weird moment. Never one. I loved it,’ he added.
Patrick addressed the rumours that Kate bruised her bum during one famous scene which saw the pair getting intimate in the laundry room, as he explained that no body doubles were used therefore ‘I’m sure there were lots of bruises!’
‘Put it this way: I haven’t done a scene like that since post- #MeToo and intimacy coordinators. I do feel a little bit like a dinosaur when it comes to [having appeared in] those kind of love scenes.’

The 2006 film is based on Tom Perrotta’s 2004 novel of the same name, and follows Kate’s unhappy housewife Sarah who ends up having an affair with her married neighbour Brad (Wilson) after they strike up a friendship at the playground.
Patrick recalls having dinner with Kate and her then-husband, director Sam Mendes ‘just to be like, alright, we’re about to start this movie together. We’re going to be very into it. So it kind of levelled the playing field.’
‘You could make tons of jokes, but I think we knew the drill,’ he explained.
Speaking to the Daily Mail at the time of the film’s release, Kate explained how she and director Todd Field discussed in minute detail how she and her leading man would choreograph the sex scenes.
‘Before I read the script I didn’t want to do any more sex scenes,’ Kate confessed.
‘Every time I do a nude scene, I think ‘That’s it now!’ because it’s so painful and scary, and I think: ‘Why does it keep happening to me?”
‘But it comes down to being given these incredible opportunities to play these inspiring, challenging roles that just so happen to involve getting your kit off!’
Kate’s most recent big screen role has been the lead in Lee, where she plays WWII photojournalist Lee Miller who chornicles the war for Vogue magazine.
