Jackie O storms out of studio in outrage as KIIS FM revealed to have highest gender pay gap in Australian radio industry: ‘It’s infuriating’

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson walked out of KIIS FM studios on Tuesday after learning the station has the highest gender pay gap disparity amongst Australian radio networks.

The radio queen, 49, was discussing the gender pay gap with Kyle, 52, who told her that KIIS FM was not performing well in comparison to their competitors.

‘Southern Cross Austereo have a disgraceful 5.9% pay gap. At Nova and Smooth FM it is even worse, six per cent. But unfortunately, the number one spot is at KIIS FM,’ he began.

‘At the top of the tree with a 12 per cent pay gap disparity.’

Henderson became upset after hearing the shocking news and asked some of her male and female colleagues if they were being paid the same.

‘This needs to be seriously addressed, it is an issue we are at the top of the pile. Do the women here feel there is a gap between them and the men at this show?’ she asked.

Series producer Intern Pete Deppeler then told Jackie his salary and a female colleague revealed she was only being paid half of what Deppeler was.

It is not known whether Deppeler and his female colleague are working in the same role with the same level of seniority, which could affect their salary package.

‘Are you freaking joking? Why is Peter getting that much money? I’m so angry about that, it makes my blood boil,’ a furious Jackie sniped.

Jackie then said female staff deserved to be paid the same as their male colleagues and said the women were staging a protest – shocking Kyle by walking out of the studio.

‘We’ve all gone,’ Jackie said as she walked out of the studio.

While Jackie O may have been upset about the apparent pay disparity at her work place, she herself earns the same amount as her co-star Kyle – a reported $10million a year.

In November, the Sydney-based radio duo signed a record-breaking $200million, 10-year deal live on-air – keeping them on the airwaves until 2034.

As part of their contract, they are set to expand their show into Melbourne later this year.

Kate Ritchie left embarrassed after hilariously misinterpreting female fan’s reason for ‘taking her dress off’ at Taylor Swift concert: ‘I thought security was coming’

Kate Ritchie was left red-faced earlier this week after she misinterpreted the behaviour of a female fan at a Taylor Swift concert in Sydney.

The Nova star, 45, told her co-hosts Fitzy and Wippa that she was initially shocked after noticing the woman appearing to undress in the stands at Accor Stadium.

‘There was one girl who I thought was taking her dress off. I’d seen the way they were partying, it didn’t surprise me. I’m thinking security is about to arrive,’ she began.

‘Then I realised this woman who only moments before I had seen standing on the chair, erotically dancing… She had a dress off, but she’s sitting back in her chair. I could see her bosoms.’

Ritchie then revealed she had completely misread the situation and the woman was actually a young mother putting on a breast pump.

‘She was taking a moment in Style to express milk. The poor woman was not going to let anything get in the way of seeing Taylor Swift,’ Ritchie said.

‘She’s ticking all the boxes: She’s a mum, an erotic dancer, a Taylor Swift fan!’

Ritchie also shared a video to social media of her attending the concert and she sported eye-popping makeup and rouge lipstick and was all smiles as she rocked her best angles at the event.

It comes as Taylor Swift, 34, finished her run of Sydney concerts on Monday evening.

She sent off the crowd with some very warm words, leaving the audience cheering in delight.

‘Looking at this crowd, the biggest crowd we’ve had at our four shows here!’ she told her fans.

A record-breaking 96,000 fans attending each of her three nights in Melbourne and a further 83,000 Swifties at each of her four shows in Sydney.

It comes after fans shared their anger after learning that scores of tickets were given away to the pop star’s Sydney concerts for free.

The tickets – many for prime seats – were given out at the Accor stadium venue minutes before, and even during the show, to hopeful fans waiting outside.
