Kate Lawler has hit back at body shamers after the star was cruelly targeted online in light of a series of Instagram snaps.
The 43-year-old was accused of ‘triggering anorexics’ and being in a ‘serious calorie deficit’ over on the social media platform after posting a holiday selfie.
Yet the former Big Brother winner-turned-radio presenter has snapped back at these comments as she discussed how she believes there is a ‘double standard’ on social media where plus-sized women are praised for showcasing their curves but slender ones are trolled.
She told The Sun: ‘If someone is on Instagram showing their curves and grabbing their rolls, it’s all, “You go girl, well done you!”
‘They’re celebrated, called real women. Well, why can’t a real woman be a healthy size eight? It’s crazy.’

To Kate’s shock some followers even compared her physique to that of fellow Big Brother contestant Nikki Grahame, who died in 2021 aged 38, after a lifelong battle with anorexia.
‘I honestly couldn’t believe it. To compare me to her is outrageous and so insensitive to Nikki’s family.’
Kate stated she is currently a size eight and at 5ft 6in, she weighs 8st 4lb and has a BMI of 19.2.
Her BMI is therefore in the ideal range as the NHS explains a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9.
While the star does look slim, she assured that it is due to a fast metabolism and she does not exercise aside from walking her dogs.
Earlier this month Kate responded to skinny shamers with a defiant snap after she was trolled over her weight while on a road trip through Europe with her husband Martin Bojtos and their six-month-old daughter Noa.
Kate made her own pointed dig at her critics, sharing a snap of her cream tea and sandwiches that she’d enjoyed the day before.
Highlighting the scones and treats she’d consumed, Kate wrote: ‘Things I ate this morning [melting face, middle finger emoji].’

Supportive: Kate’s husband Martin Bojtos has also defended the star as he responded to the backlash from trolls
Angry: Someone asked, ‘What message are you trying to send to young girls?’ That really annoyed me.
The star revealed she rarely gives her weight much thought so was shocked after she saw the reaction her post had received and couldn’t believe people were accusing her of triggering anorexia.
She said: ‘Someone asked, ‘What message are you trying to send to young girls?’ That really annoyed me.
‘I wasn’t sending a message, I just posted a selfie. And if I was sending a message to young girls, it would be to eat a balanced diet, treat yourself well and exercise.’
Kate’s husband has also defended the star as he responded to the backlash from trolls.
He wrote in the comments section of his wife’s post: ‘I love that people are concerned about my wife’s weight when I cook for her,’ followed by a laughing emoji.
‘Guys, chill – it’s the camera angle. Put the phone down and go outside for a bit.’
Kate confessed she doesn’t wish to respond to the trolls and wishes to focus to those in her Instagram fanbase who are positive and caring.
