Kate Lawler looked tearful on Sunday as she revealed she’s been told she’s perimenopausal and has been offered HRT.
The Big Brother winner turned radio presenter, 43, admitted she has been ‘feeling weird’ about the news and shared the reality behind her glamorous life.
She posted a tearful selfie to her Instagram story after an intense week, writing: ‘Just a selfie of me earlier because you know, life/work/child/the news/housework/bla bla.
‘Only sharing this because the last few days my Insta may have looked like all the fun but in all honesty, the majority of the days over the last week have been a lot and I’m due on so that probably doesn’t help.
‘And I had a call from my GP after blood tests to tell me I’m perimenopausal and the offer of HRT just made me feel weird. Anyway, if your own mental load feels heavy right now, I see you and I’m sending you so much love.’

Perimenopause means ‘around menopause’ and marks the time in which the body makes the transition to mesopause, which marks the end of being able to reproduce.
It usually happen in women between the ages of 45 and 60 and can last for a few months or several years.
During this time, hormones begin to change and the ovaries produce fewer eggs but periods don’t yet stop fully.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is used to treat symptoms of the menopause, including hot flushes, night sweats and mood swings.
Kate went on to share the realities of being a mum and the difficulties behind her busy life.
She continued: ‘I just think it’s important to be truthful about motherhood and how you don’t have round the clock childcare and you’re trying to work jobs alongside the job of being a Mum, things can sometimes feel overwhelming and s***y’.
It comes after Kate hit back at body-shamers after she was cruelly targeted online in light of a series of Instagram snaps.
She was accused of ‘triggering anorexics’ and being in a ‘serious calorie deficit’ over on the social media platform after posting a holiday selfie.
Kate snapped back at these comments as she discussed how she believes there is a ‘double standard’ on social media where plus-sized women are praised for showcasing their curves but slender ones are trolled.

Defending herself: Kate Lawler, 43, has hit back at body shamers claiming the star has ‘triggered anorexics’ as she argued there is a social media ‘double standard’ in an interview with The Sun
She told The Sun: ‘If someone is on Instagram showing their curves and grabbing their rolls, it’s all, “You go girl, well done you!”
‘They’re celebrated, called real women. Well, why can’t a real woman be a healthy size eight? It’s crazy.’
To Kate’s shock some followers even compared her physique to that of fellow Big Brother contestant Nikki Grahame, who died in 2021 aged 38, after a lifelong battle with anorexia.
‘I honestly couldn’t believe it. To compare me to her is outrageous and so insensitive to Nikki’s family.’
Kate stated she is currently a size eight and at 5ft 6in, she weighs 8st 4lb and has a BMI of 19.2.
Her BMI is therefore in the ideal range as the NHS explains a healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9.
While the star does look slim, she assured that it is due to a fast metabolism and she does not exercise aside from walking her dogs.
Kate’s husband has also defended the star as he responded to the backlash from trolls.
He wrote in the comments section of his wife’s post: ‘I love that people are concerned about my wife’s weight when I cook for her,’ followed by a laughing emoji.
‘Guys, chill – it’s the camera angle. Put the phone down and go outside for a bit.’
Kate confessed she doesn’t wish to respond to the trolls and wishes to focus to those in her Instagram fanbase who are positive and caring.
