Kate Garraway’s Good Morning Britain absence was explained on Friday, after she left her radio show mid-broadcast earlier this week.
The host, 56, was ‘sent home’ from Smooth Radio on Wednesday just 30 minutes after taking to the airwaves following the loss of her voice, leaving co-presenter Tina Hobley to hold the fort.
Speaking on GMB Charlotte Hawkins confirmed Kate’s ill health saying: ‘She would be here today but she’s lost her voice. She’s all well but she can’t speak’
In reference to Kate raising awareness for carers, Adil Ray joked: ‘She’s lost her voice, she’s been too influential in the past year.’
Before adding: ‘Be less influential Kate and get better soon.’

Kate, who was due to host Lorraine and replaced by pal Ranvir Singh, returned to Good Morning Britain two weeks ago after husband Derek Draper’s funeral, following his passing in January.
It comes after Kate fought back tears as she came face-to-face with a man who shared a hospital ward with her late husband Derek Draper.
She was visibly emotional during an interview with children’s author Michael Rosen, 77, who was on the same intensive care unit as Derek while they battled Covid.
In the moving interview, Michael and Kate discussed ITV’s new drama Breathtaking, which depicts the harrowing ordeal of NHS staff during the pandemic, as well as his own battle with ‘survivor’s guilt.’
Michael was in intensive care for 47 days when he contracted Covid in 2020, and he previously admitted hat he was just ‘hours from dying.’
Derek passed away aged 56 on January 3 from a cardiac arrest, following years of multiple health complications after contracting Covid.
During the interview on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, Kate explained to viewers that she was initially unaware that Michael and her late husband were battling Covid at the same time.
She said: ‘Derek was in the same ward, and you were in a coma at the same time,’ before recalling the kind words of a nurse who had been transferred to the hospital from Great Ormond Street.

During the interview, Kate and Michael also discussed the lack of PPE that was available for NHS staff during the pandemic, as well as Michael’s struggles with ‘survivors guilt.’
he said: ‘A lot of staff feel guilt – which they shouldn’t do, but do feel guilty of what they could have done differently – and shock and trauma.
‘And in your own way you have felt – although again you shouldn’t do – you have felt guilt, tell us about that.’
In reference to Derek’s death, Michael said: ‘Well I am telling you Kate.
‘I hear about people who died and meet people, I get into a cab and the cabbie says their relations have died from Covid. And I think, why am I here?’
Ben also detailed his own ‘arms-length’ experience seeing his longtime friend Kate struggle with Derek’s health battles for months after contracting Covid.
