Julia Roberts and Danny Moder seem happier than ever at Golden Globes after sharing secret to 23 years of marriage

Empty nesters Julia Roberts and Danny Moder had a fun date night on Sunday.

The duo were cuddly as they seemed happier than ever at Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.

The two have been married for almost 24 years and have three children – Hazel, Phinnaeus and Henry Daniel – who are all away at college.

Roberts, 58, was nominated for her role in the film After The Hunt but lost out to Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet.

Moder, 56, who works as a cinematographer, was his wife’s plus one.

Though he did not walk the red carpet with his famous better half, they were inseparable inside the awards show where they mingled with George Clooney and his wife Amal.

Roberts and Moder tied the knot 23 years ago in a secret New Mexico wedding.

In 2024 Roberts told Entertainment Tonight, that her husband is her main source of happiness.

Before that she told The Jess Cagle Show the secret to her happy marriage was, ‘Two bathroom sinks and lots of kissing.’

This comes after Roberts said she  loved working with Luca Guadagnino on After the Hunt.

The iconic actress relished working with the acclaimed director on the new psychological thriller film, explaining that Luca was ‘always incredibly helpful’ to her throughout the shoot.

Speaking to Extra, Julia explained: ‘He’s very clear [in] his language with me. I understand.

‘You know, a lot of times somebody can say something and you’re just not quite sure what they mean and you’re trying to accomplish that. And somehow I always feel like I understand exactly what he means and it’s always incredibly helpful.’

Luca, 54, also loved the experience of making the new movie.

The director – whose previous film credits include Challengers, Bones and All and Queer – actually likened making the movie to dancing.

He said: ‘Shooting the movie was like dancing, gliding together. Very immediate and very in the moment, which I loved very much.’

Julia plays a well-liked professor at Yale University in the new movie, and she admitted to being terrified by her own on-screen character.

Asked if there was anything that scared her about her own character, Julia – who stars in the film alongside the likes of Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloe Sevigny – said: ‘Everything. Truly. That’s my answer.’

Julia is one of the most successful actresses of all time. However, the movie star previously admitted that she had to learn how to overcome criticism early in her film career.

She told People: ‘I don’t think I entered into my career with much confidence.’

Julia recalled people being ‘really cruel’ towards her in her early days in Hollywood.

The award-winning film star shared: ‘Being insecure, it can be crippling. So if someone embarrassed me, it stopped me.

‘I was apoplectic, so learning to navigate that — because this is not an industry to be in if you can’t take criticism or harshness or being embarrassed.’

Julia remembers her experience as a young actress as ‘more bumps than smooth sailing’. However, the veteran movie star has managed to retain an optimistic outlook.

Julia – whose has previously starred in movies such as Pretty Woman, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Notting Hill, and Runaway Bride – said: ‘I would think, ‘Okay, there’s a reason why it has to be so hard.’ Now I look at it as some of the lessons that I’m the most grateful for because they proved my endurance to myself.

‘I had a lot of things I needed to overcome for myself.’

Next up for Roberts is a sequel.

Roberts has said she was ‘kind of surprised’ after reading a script for Ocean’s 14.

The star has opened up on the highly anticipated fifth film in the heist blockbuster franchise, and she is impressed by how ‘good’ screenwriter Carrie Solomon’s story is for the sequel.

Speaking to Variety at the Variety Golden Globes Pre-Show presented by Amazon Fire TV, she said: ‘Yes, I have seen a script.

‘And I was kind of surprised, because I was like, “Oh, what is the story going to be?” And it’s good. I mean, we wouldn’t do it if it’s not good.’

Roberts is set to return alongside Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle, having first appeared as Tess Ocean in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, before returning in Ocean’s Twelve in 2004.

In October last year, Clooney told E! News: ‘We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re trying to set up.

‘It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting.’

The Jay Kelly actor can’t wait to reunite with his former co-stars, revealing that they’ve maintained a close friendship over the years.

Asked if he is excited to reunite with Pitt again on the big screen, George replied: ‘Yeah, Brad, Matt and Don and Julia. I had dinner last night with Julia.

‘They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.’

Clooney previously spoke about the project in 2023, telling Uproxx that ‘we have a really good script for another Ocean’s now’.

He added: ‘So we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.’

Asked at the time if the script was for a potential Ocean’s 14, Clooney replied: ‘Well … I don’t want to call it that … I mean, the idea is kind of like Going in Style.’

He has also teased details on the upcoming Ocean’s prequel featuring Margot Robbie, which is also tipped to star Bradley Cooper, but revealed he has no creative involvement.

He told Variety: ‘They’re gonna play my parents.

‘They’re all very gifted and talented, and they’ll all figure it out. I get to go and watch as a fan.’
