Julia Morris has revealed she suffered a miscarriage mid-flight while travelling to South Africa.
The I’m A Celebrity Australia co-host, 56, opened up about the heartbreaking moment during an appearance on the Two Doting Dads podcast with Matty ‘J’ Johnson and Ash Wicks this week.
Morris, who was 38 at the time of the ordeal, explained how she’d fallen pregnant with her now ex-husband Dan Thomas and was heading overseas to perform at the Cape Town Comedy Festival for six weeks.
Speaking on the podcast, the comedian recalled: ‘I got on the flight and I thought, “Oh, I’m bleeding”.
‘As I was getting on the flight, I had nothing with me. I was in the bathroom for ages and I’m like, “OK, this is happening”.’

Morris found humour in the heartbreaking situation, as a comedian who sat next to her made a light-hearted joke about her lengthy time spent in the aeroplane bathroom.
‘So I was sitting next to the comedian Andrew Maxwell, who is a very funny Irish comedian,’ she continued.
‘I came back from the bathroom and he goes, “How long… was the poo that you had to do?”‘

The television personality recalled the emotional toll the ordeal had on her, but she remained hopeful knowing that she’d try for another baby with her then-husband.
‘I was sitting there along with this kind of sadness … But I also knew we’d try again,’ she added.
‘I was 38 and then I started to think … Which again, fertility wasn’t talked about as much. I would love people to speak about it more because what it will give us is a proper spectrum into the many different feelings you can have about it.
‘I was in a headspace of, “I just want to get on with trying again because I want that sadness to go away.” Because that sadness will then be replenished by the happiness.’

She married the British comedian on New Year’s Eve in 2005, and announced their divorce in May 2022.
During a subsequent interview with Stellar magazine she said the breakup was a long time coming.
‘Let’s just say I wasn’t married to the person I thought I was,’ Julia explained candidly.
‘I have become an Olympic medallist in running him down. But to be honest, I have been trying to stop doing that because I don’t want to let him into my life at all anymore. I’m free.
‘Unfortunately, I’ve had my eyes opened and I’ve had a big awakening about my people pleasing and what I will tolerate and how I see the best in people – and that’s not always the truth.’
Julia also announced she is ‘no longer interested in sex’ following her divorce.
Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show in October 2022, Julia insisted: ‘I think I’ll shut up shop. I’m done with roots.’
