Julia Garner Channels Madonna in Upcoming Biopic

Julia Garner harkened Madonna’s early 1990s style in a new photo spread for CR Fashion Book magazine.

The 31-year-old actress tapped into the 67-year-old pop icon’s sexy style as she posed in a tiny black Gucci bra, teaming it with hot pants, tights, and heels from the brand.

Her short crop of bleach-blonde hair was styled in wispy, curled tufts as she posed seductively on a chair in photos by Erika Kamano.

It comes weeks after Julia confirmed the Madonna biopic is still happening following a series of production delays.

‘I can’t say too much about it, but yes, it’s a work in progress,’ she told W Magazine earlier this month.

Madonna has been persistent in her years-long effort to make a movie about her life.

In 2023 she worked on a biopic called Who’s That Girl, a nod to her 1987 film and song of the same name.

The film was initially developed with Diablo Cody on board as co-writer of the screenplay, which was then-titled Little Sparrow.

However, the hitmaker pivoted her focus to zero in on her international Celebration tour.

In 2024 the Michigan native penned most of the film with Erin Cressida Wilson, and eyed Garner to portray her.

Last November she used social media to air out her frustration over road blocks in her pursuit to bring her film to life.

She wrote on Instagram, ‘After struggling for days in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I couldn’t make my film, I realized that everything in my life is going to be challenged.’

The renowned performer noted she had ‘been working on it for 4 years,’ with people insisting that she should ‘downsize, down scale, think smaller.’

The lengthy caption continued, ‘No easy rides for me. I guess I should be grateful.. It forces me to think outside the box. I did not have a normal life. I cannot make this in the normal way.’

In her CR Fashion Book interview, the Weapons star discussed what it was like to dream of becoming an actress.

She recalled, ‘I grew up watching so many films and going to art museums. Art and philosophy were so important.’

And the entertainer admitted becoming a performer felt distant from her daily life.

‘Even though I knew that it was real, that movies and movie stars existed, I didn’t know how one really got into the film business. It felt so far removed from my everyday life,’ she explained.

‘When I would go to shows, I didn’t know how those people got on the stage in the first place. I would think, “Oh, I wanna go up there,” but I didn’t know why.

‘I was really shy. I started [acting] because my sister did it, but she was not shy at all. I don’t know what a 14-year-old feels like, why they want to do it initially,’ she mused.

And Julia added: ‘But I did it because I liked how it made my heart and soul feel. It wasn’t because I wanted that teenage attention. If anything, I was not comfortable getting attention. I felt like acting was actually hiding for me, in a weird way, because it wasn’t me.’
