Jules Robinson Defends Against Trolls Over Melbourne Cup Outfit Criticism

Married At First Sight star Jules Robinson has slammed trolls online who criticised her Melbourne Cup outfit.

Jules wore a giant smile on Tuesday as she posed for pictures in a pink and green striped frock by Pasduchas, pairing the head-turning dress with silver heels, a silver purse and silver bow headdress.

However, the 41-year-old’s snaps were inundated with negative comments, with one social media user fat-shaming the Channel 9 star and accusing her of ‘squeezing’ into her dress.

The mum-of-two explained in her Instagram Stories that she still had a great day despite the dress being too small, however that was no excuse for trolls to harass her over her fashion choices.

‘Yesterday I wore a dress that was too small for me. [The] Pasduchas team who are so lovely kindly gifted me a beautiful dress and they had it made for me,’ she told her followers, adding that she didn’t have a chance to try the pre-ordered dress on before the big day.

Jules was slammed for looking ‘ridiculous’ by people who claimed they were just trying to ‘help’ as they over-analysed her body in the Instagram post.

‘Here’s the thing. I didn’t wear that dress to look smaller. I wore it because I loved it. Because fashion should be about joy and fun,’ she shared.

The MAFS wife added that she truly believed that ‘when you are comfortable you are confident’, and that despite the ill-fitting frock, she ‘dug deep’ and had a great day at the races.

Jules finished off the clip with some wise words to the harsh people in her comments section.

‘Women are not public property for nasty critique. We don’t need your stylist advice disguised as insults,’ she said.

‘Confidence looks good on everyone. And I promise kindness does too.’

This isn’t the first time Jules has addressed online trolls.

The Married at First Sight alum hit back at a cruel social media user who claimed that her son Oliver, five, had passed away in March.

She took to Instagram to address a cowardly keyboard warrior who made the false and hurtful comments about her boy, who she shares with husband Cam Merchant.

‘Whoever wrote this is you should be ashamed of yourself. If you see please report. A family member shared this with me; it’s a MAFS fan page.’

Jules also shared a video to her stories in which she could be seen holding her baby Carter James – who was 7-months-old at the time – while urging users to ‘stop and think’ before posting ‘stupid comments’.

‘I’ve done enough work on myself to be able to protect myself and to always know that generally they’re always about how I look or how I dress or whatever,’ she said.

‘You know what? That does not bother me at all. But to come at my family and to say something so awful.

‘And the point that you’ve gone to source photos of [Oliver] as a baby… like what is the purpose of this?

‘It’s just insane and people just need to stop and think before they do such stupid things,’ she went on.

‘So yeah I am upset and I am human and that is not fair to write things like that about my children so who ever you are @#$%^ you are an absolute moron.’
