From Young Magician to TV Star: Stephen Mulhern’s Journey and Why He’s Opening Up about Magic Secrets and His Past

Since bursting onto the showbiz scene as a CITV presenter in the Nineties, Stephen Mulhern has gone on to become of the most in-demand stars on TV.

The presenter, 47, began his career as a child, starting as a magician and working his way steadily up the TV presenting ladder.

He has gone on to host a staggering 50 different shows, including Catchphrase and Deal Or No Deal, and has cemented close friendships with some of the biggest names in showbiz.

And fans went wild when he was pictured holding hands with Josie Gibson last month, however he quickly denied romance rumours when quizzed by pals Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on This Morning.

This is because, despite his success and showbiz connections, Stephen likes to keep his personal life incredibly secret and has done throughout his career.

And if fans are looking to find out more about the presenter, the best way is by reading his new kid’s book Max Magic.

The book is based on his own childhood and uses his family’s real names and parents’ occupations.

He even includes his gran, who inspired a love of magic, and close showbiz pal Holly Willoughby.

He told The Sun: ‘Max, without question, is me and I wanted to include everything I’ve done in terms of ups and downs and tricky situations and happiness — and just overall things that people can take something from.

‘There’s a bully in it, that really happened at my school. One of the things he did to me, he made me stand in the middle of West Ham Park.

‘He said if you move before I walk outside this park, I’m going to beat you up. It was just horrific and I stayed there until nightfall.’

Stephen explained he wanted the book to be ‘relatable’ and hopes it may help someone going through something similar.

While he now famed for being a TV presenter, Stephen’s first career path was as a magician.

Raised alongside his three siblings in east London, he honed his people skills by working on his father Chris’s market stall.

At the age of 17, Stephen became the youngest ever member of The Magic Circle – an organisation dedicated to promoting and advancing the art of magic.

However, he found himself temporarily suspended from the club after he broke one of The Magic Circle’s most sacredly kept rules – revealing how a trick is performed – while he was hosting Finger Tips on CITV.

He is now taking that risk for a second time as there is a QR code at the back which, if scanned, takes the readers to a video from inside Stephen’s home, where he shows how ten different magic tricks are done.

He explained that to find a new generation of magicians, you have to show them how to do tricks.

Stephen added: ‘The magicians are not going to like it where I show the readers how to port a card. If you know how to do that, then you can do the most incredible tricks.

‘Imagine how excited a young kid is going to feel, seeing it all explained.’

After leaving school, Stephen created his own magic show called Stephen’s Mega Mad Magic Show and won TV’s Big Big Talent Show, which secured him a slot on the 1997 Royal Variety Performance.

He then scored jobs at the Disney Channel and went on to host a number of magic shows, including Quick Trick Show, Tricky TV and Magic Numbers.

Stephen still enjoys performing live magic too, regularly returning to Butlin’s to perform three shows a day to packed-out crowds, insisting there is no better training than being faced with a live audience.

It comes after Stephen broke his silence as he faced an awkward grilling about his rumoured romance with Josie Gibson on This Morning on Tuesday.

With neither of them confirming or denying the rumours, This Morning hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard couldn’t resist stirring the pot during his latest interview.

While promoting his book, Max Magic, Stephen was seen making use of the ASMR area set up and Ben took the opportunity to take a cheeky swipe at him saying he was acting at home because he was ‘with one of our own’.

Sitting up straight from a massage table, Stephen laughed off the comment and told Ben to ‘shut his face’ before they went to an AD break.

The show continued smoothly but at the end of Steven’s interview, Cat and Ben bought up the rumours once again forcing the Deal Or No Deal host to address them.

He said: ‘Listen, she didn’t turn up to rehearsals, I held her hand and I showed her where to stand. That is it. Finito!.’

‘Uh-huh, really. Your lips are sealed?’ poked Cat, while Ben said, ‘Me thinks he protest too much.’

‘To be with somebody or to even kiss somebody, I’ve really got to love them,’ she explained to OK! Magazine.

‘I’ve really got to be into them. I can’t give my energy over when I’m not completely into it.’

She added that she has only experienced love in in the past a handful of times, insisting: ‘You know when you get that magic connection? For me it only comes around like once every seven or eight years.’

Following a string of unsuccessful relationships, Josie confessed that she lives in fear of being left devastated again by another failed romance. Stephen meanwhile has always been guarded about his personal life.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, she admitted that her past heartaches are the root of her issues, as she said: ‘Do you know what? I just can’t have my heart broken again like I just can’t do it. I always meet them and like they’re not very good’.

Her time in the spotlight has seen her embroiled in a number of romances, including her Big Brother boyfriend John James Parton, from her 2010 stint in the house, ex-fiancé Luke Sanwo and her baby daddy Terry.

The stunner detailed how she juggles her time between her TV work in London, including presenting This Morning, and living with Reggie in Bath.

In light of her current romantic state, she said: ‘If I was to meet somebody – one, it wouldn’t be fair on them. Because I can’t give them the time that they need, and two, I’ve got my little boy, and I will never get that time back..

‘So if I’m taking time away from my little boy and spending it on something that may or may not work out. I’m gonna really regret that.’

Josie soared to fame after winning Big Brother’s 11th season in 2010 leading to various brand deals and a hugely successful weight loss path.

She insists that romance is not currently an option for her due to bringing up Reggie, who she amicably co-parents with Terry, who she deems a fantastic dad.

    John James Parton

Josie’s career in the public eye was launched by a popular stint in the Big Brother house in 2010 which saw her win series 11 of the show, at the age of 25.

A big part of her journey on the then-Channel 4 show was hitting it off with housemate John James Parton.

The pair dated for just shy of a year after their release from the Big Brother house.

When they went their separate ways, Josie told the Daily Star: ‘We spent every minute of the day with each other in the Big Brother house and moved in straight away after leaving the show.

‘We didn’t want to be apart. But the honeymoon period was over. We argued all the time. John wanted me to stop weeing with the toilet door open and I wanted him to stop moaning and to see things from my point of view.’

John went on to star in Love Island Australia in 2018, with Josie telling Daily Mail Australia: ‘He doesn’t want a girlfriend, he’s just fame hungry. He’s the most manipulative and calculated person I’ve ever met.

‘I thought we were in love but all he would ever talk about were the magazine deals and photoshoots.’

    Ex-fiancé Luke Sanwo

Josie got engaged to plumber Luke Sanwo (pictured in 2014) but they broke up in 2015 having never got married

Shortly after splitting from John, Josie was in a new relationship with plumber Luke Sanwo, who she met at the SW4 music festival on London’s Clapham Common.

In 2012, after just six months, Luke popped the question and the pair got engaged.

After a tumultuous few years involving a number of temporary break-ups, they finally decided to go their separate ways in April 2015.

Josie told new! Magazine at the time: ‘Me and Luke have had a chat and we’re going to take a break from our relationship.

‘The passion is slowly drifting and now it’s virtually non-existent. I feel like it’s the right thing to do at the moment.’

In 2023, Luke recalled a heated spat just before the split where he claims Josie wielded a machete the pair used to cut meat at barbecues.

However, he told The Sun: ‘I was shocked and amazed but I didn’t feel in danger. I know she didn’t intend me any harm.’

Two years after the split from Luke, Josie got into a relationship with a property developer and family friend called Terry.

The couple had actually known each other for two decades before they got together and went on to welcome a son, Reggie, in September 2018.

But five months after Reggie was born, the pair split up.

In a previous interview with new! Magazine, Josie revealed that Terry had kicked her out on New Year’s Eve in 2018 after an argument.

‘He’s got OCD and just after Christmas, he went mad about too many of my shoes being in the hallway,’ she explained.

‘So I kicked off and said, “Well, we’ll go then!” And he went, “Alright”, and bagged up our stuff. So Reggie and me headed to a hotel.’

However, the pair moved back in together at the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to co-parent during lockdown.

When restrictions were lifted, they went their separate ways once again.

    Is Josie Gibson single?

Josie sparked rumours of a fresh romance in August 2023, with cameraman Sam Morter (seen with Josie) touted as her new flame, but Josie shut these down

Josie sparked rumours of a fresh romance in August 2023, with cameraman Sam Morter (seen with Josie) touted as her new flame, but Josie shut these down

While Josie shut down rumours of romance with Dancing On Ice host Stephen, she did hint at a new flame in August 2023.

On Shopping With Keith Lemon she revealed ‘there is someone in my life at the moment but it’s early stages’, but has been tight-lipped on their identity.

Rumours circulated that the mystery man was cameraman Sam Morter, who has appeared with the TV star a number of times on her social media, but these murmurs were swiftly put to bed.

More speculation came in November when Josie shared a cosy snap with hairdresser Maurice Flynn, with the caption: ‘One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire existence. If you ever get the chance @lavolondon in Marylebone London is the one.

‘The company was delicious too!! What an amazing evening.. I felt like I was in heaven! @mauriceflynn @lavolondon Thank you.’

However, by the end of that year, in an episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! she revealed that she was single again.

‘I’ve got to find a boyfriend after this,’ Josie said in the Bush Telegraph as she spoke of her embarrassment at breaking wind in front of her campmates.

In 2014, Josie shared that she lost six stone over the course of a year, going from a size 20 to a size eight.

And last year, ahead of her appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! Josie revealed she’d slimmed down from a size 18 to a 14 after hiring a personal trainer.

She told The Daily Mail: ‘Well I don’t feel like I’m in great shape but before I knew I was doing this I did hire a personal trainer and we’ve been weight training.

‘And then I’ve been running with my hairdresser Maurice and everyone thinks that we are an item!

‘We put a picture of us on Instagram, but he’s actually my hair stylist. He’s amazing. And he takes me running. I’ve never been a runner but now I’ve been running a few 5Ks here and there.

Speaking to Gyles Brandreth in an episode of his podcast Rosebud – which starts on Friday, the TV personality explained that she ‘loves her own company’ and believes that’s why she struggles in relationships.

Alison said: ‘I think that’s why I struggle in relationships, because I don’t want somebody around me all the time. I absolutely love being on my own. I’m OK with it. I’ve never felt lonely.

‘I think as soon as I hear the word marriage I get cold feet. I think I’m just one of those people.

‘I always – not think there’s something better – but I always get a bit nervous to know that is it.

‘I just feel like I’m tied down and I don’t like it, when really and truly, I’m getting to that age now where I think ‘Alison, let go – it’s OK to settle down.”

David, thought to be in his mid-20s, studied as a massage therapist and offered ‘classic, lymphatic drainage, anti-cellulite, wraps, facial massage.’

The panel was made up of Christine Lampard , Denise Welch , Brenda Edwards , Linda Robson and Janet Street-Porter.

During the show, Christine asked the panel: ‘Who’s having the most jiggy jigs?’

Alison then said: ‘How’s Birmingham doing? I reckon we’re up there, I really do…’

She then cheekily added: ‘Well I am.’

Alison’s confession comes after she recently admitted she is ‘finally ready to settle down’ after years of ‘getting cold feet’ in past relationships.

The presenter revealed she ‘has always been scared’ of commitment but is now ready to tie the knot if Mr Right comes along.

Alison was previously engaged to cab driver Noureddine Boufaied, the father of her son Aiden, 19, but claimed she ‘wasn’t ready for marriage at the time.’

Alison dated landscape gardener Ben Hawkins for two years, before their split earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the chat, Alison also revealed people wrongly believed she has been married before.

Alison was previously engaged to cab driver Noureddine Boufaied, the father of her son Aiden, 19, but claimed she ‘wasn’t ready for marriage at the time’ (pictured with son Aiden)

For years, it’s been widely believed that the presenter was once married to cab driver Noureddine, the father of her son Aiden.

She explained although Noureddine was a ‘lovely guy’ and they became engaged at 30-years-old – the word ‘marriage’ scared her at the time.

Agreeing she has been a commitment-phobe until now, she said: ‘A lot of people think I’ve been married – I’ve never been married.

‘If you look online it’s like Alison was married to Aiden’s dad, but I wasn’t. He engaged me but we never actually got married.

‘He’s a lovely guy – he’s from Tunisia actually. So I went out to Tunisia to do some repping. I was an entertainer out in Tunisia. I never met anyone when I was in Tunisia – I came home and met a Tunisian man, which was bizarre.’

‘Aiden’s dad was just a lovely guy. He had the most beautiful smile and that’s what I fell in love with, and Aiden’s got that smile as well.

‘I just don’t feel like we were ready for marriage at the time. It was the perfect time to get married.’

She did not reveal why she split from Aiden’s father, but since then Alison was reportedly engaged to single dad and security guard Jamie Savage after meeting him online, and more recently she dated landscape gardener Ben Hawkins for around two years after hiring him to work on her garden in 2021.

Dec and Ant McPartlin hosted the last ever Saturday Night Takeaway over the weekend after the show airing for 22 years – with Josie and Stephen also being involved in the show.

Stephen and Josie have been friends for some time and perhaps he is unaware of her feelings for him.

The two appear to get on very well and looked relaxed in one another’s company.

Last year, Josie said she was in the early stages of a romance, saying: ‘There is someone in my life at the moment but it’s early stages…I’ve said I love you.

‘It’s best to just get it out of the way, I don’t like playing games.’

Fans were convinced that she was dating camera man Sam Porter after she shared a picture of them holding hands while on a job in Paris but she said they were just friends and she was once again single.

Clearing up the speculation, she later said: ‘I am not in a relationship, neither am I in love with cameraman Sam. I am not with Sam Morter.. I love Sam Morter, he is my work colleague, I’m like his older sister. I’m like his auntie. That’s as far as it goes.’

Josie has said she wants to spend her time with her son Reggie, five. She split from his dad, property developer Terry, when their son was just five months old.

    Ex-boyfriend Terry

She had her son, Reggie (pictured), with ex-boyfriend Terry – a property developer who she split from in 2019

Josie soared to fame after winning Big Brother’s 11th season in 2010 leading to various brand deals and a hugely successful weight loss path.

Her time on This Morning began five years ago and she has worked her way from a segment presenter to fronting the full show in permanent hosts’ absences.

This Morning has been synonymous with scandal over the past year due to Phillip’s affair with a colleague and subsequent departure, before Holly announced she was set to leave the programme in October last year.

Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have since been unveiled as their replacements from Monday to Thursday, while Josie joins a host of stars including Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond, Sian Welby and Rylan Clark in sharing Friday duties.

While there have been allegations of toxicity, defiant Josie insisted: ‘This Morning have been so good to me. They are really understanding with Reggie. Juggling mum and everything. It’s just nice to have people that you work with in this industry.’

Speaking about her panic attack, Josie explained the struggles of her first appearance on the show, saying: ‘I don’t feel pressure now, but when I first started. This is where I love This Morning…

‘When I first started, I went on to host a competition on the studio floor… I had a freaking panic attack. I am not joking. I could not breathe, I couldn’t. Honest this is years and years ago I did just. It was so nervous, so so nervous. My comfort…

‘They kept with me, and then they kept they they grew me as a presenter. So yeah. And now I’m presenting the main show…

‘Every day I’m learning every day. I’m growing every day. I’m like, perfect my craft as a presenter, but what I’m saying is.’

Josie insisted ongoing claims of toxicity behind the scenes were ‘rubbish’, saying: ‘If some of these people could just come in and meet us all, they would know that it was sort of like the biggest load of rubbish ever…

‘And oh, you know, at This Morning the people have been there for absolutely years. It’s a really family affair. So when when it was. Yeah, I felt so sorry for all, like the the people that work on it like cause they’ve been there for donkeys’ years.’

She said: ‘Bl**dy toxic? Do you think me and Alison are gonna work somewhere that’s toxic. Alison’s my one of my besties, do you think? Are we me and our whole people are gonna go into somewhere that’s that toxic.’

Josie was adamant critics of the show were ‘jumping on the bandwagon’ and thanked This Morning bosses Martin Frizell, Vivek Sharma and more for the opportunities she had been afforded on the show.

She said: ‘Now I’m presenting the main show. So this is sort of they sort of saw something in in me that I didn’t see in myself, and that I’ve got them all to thank for that, like Martin Frizell, Vivek Sharma and more…

She said: If I lived in London I would have loved the job. But I don’t live in London, I live [in Bath], and this is where I am, and this where my family is this, where my life is. So, and I, you know I will never get this time back…

As well as her work with This Morning, Josie’s Yoplait campaign ties in with new research that shows kids are swapping yoghurt for more sugary foods like biscuits and sweets – leading to a dairy deficit.

Josie revealed that kid’s yoghurt intakes have declined, especially since the pandemic, and how an increasing proportion of their daily intake is now represented by sugary foods like biscuits, cakes and crisps.

She said: ‘Yoghurt for kids is packed full of calcium, vitamin D which growing children need to develop, so it’s alarming to see that the consumption is in decline.’

Speaking about helping Reggie eat well, she said: ‘Well, the thing is, we’ve always got Petits Filous in our fridge. So we we always yeah, you know what it’s like with the kids. kids are like going for chocolate and biscuits and stuff like that…

‘So they’re trying to get more kids to eat yogurts because the bit mind calcium. So I was like, I’ll sign up for that one. Thank you!’

  • Has Fern Britton got the final say? Ex-This Morning presenter teases a possible comeback to the show – 15 years after sudden exit and reports of behind-the-scenes tension with Phillip Schofield

Has Fern Britton got the final say? Ex-This Morning presenter teases a possible comeback to the show – 15 years after sudden exit and reports of behind-the-scenes tension with Phillip Schofield

Fern Britton hinted at a potential return to This Morning on Wednesday, fifteen years after her acrimonious departure from the show.

The veteran TV personality returned to the daytime show for an interview with new presenting team Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard as she discussed her recent appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

It was familiar territory for Britton, 66, who fronted the show initially as a guest presenter from 1993 until joining forces with Phillip Schofield as a full time host until her eventual departure in 2009.

And following Wednesday’s appearance, she responded affirmatively when social media followers touted her as a potential summer holiday or Friday stand-in, slots usually filled by Alison Hammond or Josie Gibson.

‘So fabulous to see Fern back on the show……. Holiday stand in…..??? Hope so!!’ tweeted one fan after watching her interview.

The post was liked by Britton, whose 2009 departure from the show was mired in acrimony following a reported backstage feud with Schofield.

‘Would love to see you back on this morning could do fridays [sic], a ray of sunshine,’ read a second post liked by the presenter.

Britton was said to have felt like she was ‘undervalued by ITV’ and ‘living in Schofield’s shadow’ before she was ultimately replaced by Holly Willoughby.

It was also reported she was being paid £250,000 a year less than her male co-host, who was believed to be earning three times her salary when they were fronting game show Mr & Mrs together from 2008 to 2010.

In 2023 Britton confirmed she was no longer in touch with Schofield, but insisted she had fond memories of her time on This Morning.

She said: ‘We were involved in the show and mates at the time, but we don’t really [speak anymore].’

Contrary to initial claims, Britton refrained from speaking about her relationship with Schofield or the collapse of her marriage to TV chef Phil Vickery – a regular guest on This Morning – during her time in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

‘She felt like she was really hard done by when she left This Morning and now she wants to tell her side of the story,’ a source told OK! before her entrance.

‘She actually blames Philip Scofield for her losing her job and felt he had a lot to do with the fact she got pushed out for a younger model, she’s not afraid to speak out now and she’s not taking any prisoners.

‘Viewers can certainly expect fireworks. She’s using it as an opportunity to relaunch her career.’

The insider added it is a good opportunity for Britton after becoming ‘unexpectedly single.’

Britton and Vickery ended their marriage in 2020. Two years later, the chef was spotted kissing her former best friend Lorraine Stanton.

‘She feels she’s had a rough time recently – she’s openly spoken about her gastric band and also got divorced from husband of 20 years, Phil Vickery’, the source added.

A representative of Fern told MailOnline: ‘Fern has already said everything she wants to say about Philip Scofield and her departure from This Morning 15 years ago and won’t be commenting further.’

Josie Gibson and Sam Thompson tried their hand at being jockeys for the day as they attended day three of Cheltenham Festival on Thursday.

The presenters were joined by reality star turned sports presenter Chris Hughes as they headed to the racecourse for the day.

And as the two campmates reunited for the This Morning segment, it wasn’t long before they were getting stuck into their very own horse race.

As Chris and his fellow commentator popped horse masks on, Josie and Sam stepped up to the role as jockeys as they galloped around the paddock in a hilarious piggy back race.

Josie, 39, looked to be gripping on for dear life as she held on to her ‘horse’ who she named 50 Shades of Hay.

Dressed to impress the pair looked the part as they strutted their stuff in stylish ensembles.

While Chris remarked that Jose looked like Inspector Gadget last year, he admitted she ‘nailed it’ this year as she opted for a long khaki coat with a white blouse and knee high suede boots.

Meanwhile Sam, 31, wore a fun jockey hat, complete with googles and a whip as he posed for photos with his co-star.

Josie could barely contain her laughter as the radio presenter got into character and pretended to ride an imaginary horse.

She topped off her look with a trilby hat and a silk scarf, styling her hair into glamorous curls.

Meanwhile, Sam wore a blue suit with a white shirt, navy tie and brown suede shoes for the event.

Cheltenham Festival punters faced ‘absolute bedlam’ when trying to leave the racecourse when heavy rain created traffic chaos on the event’s opening day.

Torrential downpours and boggy fields caused a nightmare in the festival car parks, as thousands tried to head home at the end of a thrilling day of racing.

Vehicles got stuck in the heavy mud, creating queues of up to two hours on the opening day of the four-day event.

Those arriving to watch today’s racing are also likely to encounter travel problems, as images from this morning have shown tractors pulling trapped cars out of the thick mud after more heavy showers fell overnight.

More than 60,000 supporters attended the opening day of the prestigious 164-year-old racing meet and swarmed the course’s grandstand, betting rings and Guinness Village.

Rain was expected to fall throughout this week, but last night’s downpours were significantly heavier than what was forecast, leading to today’s Glenfarclas Cross-County Chase being postponed.

The race is run on a different track to other races at the festival and does not drain as well.

The track had expected 2-4mm of rain overnight but 6mm has already fallen – and another 6mm is forecast on the way.

A Cheltenham spokesperson said: “Following 11mm of rainfall throughout yesterday, there has been no improvement in the conditions on the Cross Country Course and with areas of the track unraceable, the Cross Country Chase has sadly been abandoned.

“The forecast for the remainder of the week continues to look unsettled, with further showers likely on both Thursday and Friday.

“There will therefore be insufficient improvement to the Cross Country Course by Friday, and the decision has been taken not to reschedule the race.”

It comes after Fred revealed he’s planning to tie the knot with his fiancée Fruitcake in 2024 in Jamaica.

Fred’s trip comes after Fred and his former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! costar Josie Gibson were reunited on last week on This Morning – after being embroiled in a feud during their stint on the ITV show.

Fred became embroiled in a ‘sexism’ row after viewers accused him of presenting ‘misogynistic’ behaviour towards Josie, 38, in the jungle last year.

But as Fred joined Josie on This Morning for a cooking segment, it appeared that any bad blood had been quashed, with the chef quipping that it was blown ‘way out of proportion.’

Fred was a guest on the show to demonstrate one of his family’s favourite recipes, roast chicken and sweetcorn soup.

At the start of the item, host Craig Doyle made reference to the pair in the jungle by saying, ‘There were more sparks between these two than the actual [jungle] fire itself!’

Josie laughed and said: ‘There are no bean fritters in sight today!’ while a laughing Fred added: ‘It’s not my favourite recipe!’

Craig then addressed Fred and Josie’s feud by asking: ‘Can I just ask, are you guys OK?’

He said he faced a dilemma over whether to wear those or a pair with the Jamaican flag. 'Which one would you wear?' he asked his fans

Josie replied: ‘We love each other. It got really blown out of proportion, ain’t it Fred?’ while Fred admitted, ‘It has, it has, it has!’

Reaching out for a hug, Josie said: ‘Bring it in.’

After the embrace, the pair spoke of their time in the Australian jungle, with Josie saying: ‘We’ve been through something a bit spectacular together, it was a journey wasn’t it?’

Fred then confessed: ‘I think people can’t understand what it means to be in the jungle unless you are in the jungle and the reason it’s called ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ is because you really do wanna get out of there!’

Josie – looking at the dish – said: ‘Well I wish we had this in there! Good soup, good wine and good company – thank you very much.’

During their time on I’m A Celebrity last year, tension had started between the pair after Fred had to relinquish his role as camp chef, with many remarking that he was acting ‘controlling’ towards Josie when she took over the job.

Yet defending his actions in his exit interview, Fred claimed the reason behind their fallout was because a culinary mistake Josie was consistently making.

Speaking to hosts Ant and Dec during his exit interview, he said: ‘She’s just making it up as she goes along. So I think there’s a lot at stake with the food.

‘And it’s not just what you’re cooking at the moment which of course is going to be good, because the produce is incredible, it is what you can do the next day with the leftovers of the bones.’

He continued: ‘You really need the calories, and you’ve got to find them whenever you can. I think we missed out on quiet a few meals [by not recycling ingredients],’ he added.

Viewers had been seeing less manners and more ‘misogyny’ in Fred in recent episodes after his behaviour towards his female co-stars left fans branding him ‘unbearable’.

When asked why he didn’t get involved as much with Sam Thompson and Nick Pickard’s cooking, he said they were a ‘dream’ and there was ‘no need’ for him to do so.

As his rift with Josie grew, Fred was seen cosying up with Nigel Farage, 59, on the show, despite once calling him a ‘coward who likes money, attention and the sound of his own voice far too much’.

Both tasked with pot washing in the camp, the former UKIP leader and the Frenchman bonded over the cleanliness of the camp and complained about Josie’s meals while scrubbing the pans at the water’s edge.

When asked about his up-and-down relationship with Nigel in the camp, Fred insisted their time together hadn’t swayed him on their political differences.

He said: ‘It was great in the camp because I’m a do-er and Nigel is a do-er… but there is a side of Nigel Farage that I won’t and will never connect with.’

Fred, also a trained chef, had relentlessly criticised single mother Josie’s cooking abilities and during Monday night’s episode he told hosts Ant and Dec at a trial: ‘There is no method, there is no technique.

‘She’s just making it up as she goes along. If she just let me take her through it step-by-step clearly, we would be ok.’

Viewers were quick to hit back at Fred and wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Fred Sirieix is controlling and misogynistic. He may be a trained chef but it doesn’t mean he has to make everyone feel less than.’

Josie has been praised online for her calm response when she said: ‘You’ve just got to give me the reins my love, I know it’s hard.’

Others online told him to ‘back off’ from Josie and one person wrote: ‘How Josie has not ripped Fred’s head off I don’t know. How conceited and patronising. Get him out!’

In addition to his clash with Josie, three days into the show YouTuber Nella Rose, 26, and Fred had an argument during which she accused the Maitre’d of ‘little-girling’ her.

However, the hint at an unequal dynamic was overlooked because viewers sided with Fred.

Since then the public’s opinion of Fred has shifted after his ‘sexist’ behaviour towards Josie and Nella when camp chores were allocated.

Initially, Nella and Josie were tasked with washing the pots up after Fred cooked the campmates rice and beans.

But the camp descended into chaos when the furious First Dates star threw the already washed pots onto the ground complaining they were ‘unclean’ and sent the pair back.

Another person wrote: ‘I am so disappointed with that. I now dislike Fred Sirieix.’

Confiding in the Bush Telegraph on Friday, Nella said: ‘If somebody’s cleaned something you don’t pick it up and dash it on the floor.’

Josie added: ‘I like Fred, but it’s not very nice being told what you’ve done isn’t good enough and I’m thorough.’

How Denise Ohnona Impersonated Kate Moss and Shocked the World at PFW, Despite Never Seeing Herself as Beautiful

The celebrity doppelganger who duped people into thinking she was Kate Moss at the Paris Fashion Show has revealed how her epic stunt came to life.

Denise Ohnona, 43, stormed the runway at the Marine Serre Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show on Monday.

Many were tricked into thinking it was the real Kate Moss, 50, but it was actually someone who dubs herself ‘Fake Moss’ – mother-of-two Denise, from Ormskirk in Lancashire.

While Kate was launched as a fashion superstar as a teenager, Denise has only been modelling professionally for the past six years – after enduring not only a tricky divorce but also a traumatic car collision that left her with lasting scars.

Speaking about how she managed to fool the world with her stunt, Denise appeared on Thursday’s This Morning to talk to Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

Denise shared: ‘It’s so funny just coming in here because everyone is like “you look just like her.” I’m quite a shy person!

‘My agent, he was the famous David Beckham look alike, he asked me if I could do a job in Paris and I was so scared. Bu they talked me into it.

‘I was flown over to Paris and went straight to the fitting and did a little walk.

‘I ended up in a show and I didn’t release how big it was. I was like a little girl who got to play dress up. I’m so glad I did it, I think if it scares you do it anyway.’

Speaking about how she fell into the lookalike industry, she added: ‘When I  was 14 I first started getting attention for it but I didn’t know who she was, then it happened more when I was 16.

‘I never thought I was beautiful but I always thought she was.’

‘Fake Moss’ Denise previously has revealed she was left ‘mentally traumatised’ after a horrific bus crash left her with thick scars.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4, Denise said she didn’t consider herself beautiful or a model in her younger years.

She said: ‘My face took the brunt of it and smashed into the windscreen. The next time my mum saw me in the hospital my face was cut all open. It was really traumatic.

‘It took me a long long time to get over that as well as the physical scars, I was mentally traumatised and it did hold me back for many years.’

She recently told The Times how the doctor who operated on her had not been trained in plastic surgery and she endured the effects of surplus collagen production and thick scars.

As she struggled with what she described as ‘a mental breakdown’, her weight plunged to five and a half stone and she suffered stomach ulcers.

She later spent some time living in America, in Orange County, where she worked in telecoms and got married in Las Vegas – but she and her husband divorced in 2011.

She has said she gained weight after becoming depressed and losing interest in going to the gym – only to become inspired to get fit again by people pointing out her resemblance to Kate Moss.

Denise grew up on Penny Lane in Liverpool, made famous as a result of The Beatles song of the same name.

She grew up with three siblings, one sister and two brothers and had a ‘happy childhood’ with her mother and stepfather.

Denise said she ‘never considered herself beautiful’ despite being compared to the iconic supermodel.

She said: ‘I think from the age of 14 was when I was first told I looked like Kate, but I didn’t really think much of it because I didn’t know who Kate Moss was at the time.

‘We didn’t have Google. It wasn’t until later on I found out who she was and when I first saw her I was like oh my gosh she’s gorgeous I am nothing like Kate.

Denise has her own Instagram account called @iamnotkatemoss, with 67,400 followers, in which she replicates famous catwalk appearances and adverts by Kate Moss.

She previously told Mail Online: ‘When I split up with my ex-husband eight years ago, I went a bit ‘mumsy,’ I lost my sense of fashion and gave up on the gym.

‘I would look after the kids day and night and it was more important to run around after them than look after myself. Then I started getting people mistaking me for Kate Moss when I would go anywhere.

‘Being told that I could look like Kate Moss picked me back up and I started focusing on myself again. I got back into the gym and looking after my appearance and the comments started all over again!’

Talking about abuse and trolling she receives on social media, Denise told the BBC: ‘Most days I’m ok with it but you do get people who want to dissect you, pull you apart, and make assumptions about you.

‘I’ve got to say 99 percent of people have been so lovely and supporting, but there’s always that one percent who go out their way to put you down.’

During her appearance in Paris on Monday, Denise harked back to Kate’s indie days in an oversized leather jacket emblazoned with the brand’s crescent moon-shaped logo with a matching handbag.

She wore heavy black eye make-up while her trademark dirty blonde locks were worn in loose waves to add to the indie ensemble.

Denise’s Instagram posts have included miming to the sound of Moss’s testimony at Johnny Depp’s court case battle with Amber Depp.

She has also been photographed in the window of a McDonald’s, playing on Kate’s famous quote suggesting ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’.

Despite her lookalike work, she describes herself as a full-time mum to daughters Elise, 13, and eight-year-old Anais.

Denise said: ‘When I first started to get papped, I used to get very shy and felt like a fraud became I am a Fake Moss.

‘But then as time went on I started to enjoy it and now find it very flattering – who wouldn’t want to get mistaken for Kate Moss? She’s one of the most incredibly iconic women ever!

‘I get mistaken for her on a daily basis now – especially when I am out in central London – that’s where the paps tend to find me.

‘However even members of the public get us confused, and I get asked to pose for selfies in nightclubs and in the supermarket all the time.

‘It’s amazing that I’ve been able to find something that has transformed me from my frumpy mum lifestyle, to a glamorous “supermodel”.’

This Morning reunites I’m A Celebrity stars Josie Gibson and Fred Sirieix as they address their feud, following chef’s involvement in ‘sexism and misogyny’ controversy

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! stars Josie Gibson and Fred Sirieix were reunited on Wednesday’s This Morning, after being embroiled in a feud during their stint on the ITV show.

The First Dates star became embroiled in a ‘sexism’ row after viewers accused him of presenting ‘misogynistic’ behaviour towards Josie, 38, in the jungle last year.

Many remarking that Fred was acting ‘controlling’ towards Josie when she took over the job.

This sparked a misogyny row with viewers on X writing: ‘No Fred’s annoying me now, ‘You haven’t done a good enough job’… how sexist.’

ITV’s This Morning cut short as Loose Women cancelled in schedule change

ITV’s This Morning will wrap early on Wednesday and Loose Women will be cancelled in TV schedule shake-up.

During the programme hosts Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson explained that This Morning would be finishing at 12:15pm rather than its usual 12:30pm.

Meanwhile, Loose Women has been taken off air completely to make room for ITV news for Budget Day.

This Morning’s Craig explained: ‘The show is slightly shorter today because it’s Budget Day.

‘We are all going to be so much richer at the end of today,’ he joked.

    Josie responded: ‘I hope so!’

ITV will air from 12:15pm to 2pm with Jeremy Hunt set to cut 2p from personal taxes.

It comes as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have been unveiled as the new hosts of This Morning.

The pair, aged 47 and 49 respectively, have been locked in talks for some months following the exit of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield  and are now set to make their debut next month.

Her role on the show will see the star reportedly lose her long-time role on So You Think You Can Dance in the US, where she was reportedly paid £43k an episode – instead opting for the role on This Morning with a reported £550k annual salary.

It had been claimed that Cat was finally been won round with a more lucrative deal, but insiders at ITV denied the claims  – insisting it was the ability to spend more time family, over a big money payday, that finally sealed the deal.

The news was confirmed via a bespoke promo on This Morning’s Twitter, showing Ben walking down the familiar This Morning production corridor and placing a new photo of Cat on the wall, before turning to the camera as the photo comes to life.

Ben said: ‘This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of This Morning. It’s an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job…’

He continued: ‘For the last ten years I’ve been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat…

‘Welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes This Morning so loved.’

Cat added: ‘This Morning is a national institution. Whenever it’s on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships!…

‘This Morning is and always will be the viewer’s show. Ben and I both know how much people love it, and with the help of an amazing team of people, we’re going to do our best to take care of it.’

Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary discussed the news last week, showing a throwback snap of Dermot, Andi Peters and Ben.  Dermot joked: ‘Ben at T4 that’s actually from last week!’, while Alison replied: ‘Look at Andi Peters!’

Moving on to Cat, Dermot said: I’ve known Cat for so long’, while Alison revealed she first met Cat at a party in Los Angeles about four years ago and they bonded over both being from Birmingham.

She told Dermot: ‘I met her in LA. We’re both Brummies. I met her about four years ago, we met in LA at a party. We are so so happy they are joining the family Ben and Cat. This is going to be so so nice’.

Dermot said: ‘The secret is out!’, while Alison revealed: ‘They are joining us in March’.

This Morning’s Editor, Martin Frizell said: ‘The team and I have relished the opportunity to try new things these past few months and remind viewers what a massively talented team both on and off screen we have here at This Morning…’
