Nearly six years after he and ex-wife Fergie filed for divorce, actor Josh Duhamel is looking back on the split.
The 52-year-old actor and his 50-year-old ex (born Stacy Ann Ferguson) started dating in September 2004 and tied the knot in 2009.
Their 11-year-old son Axl Jack was born in August 2013, though they announced their separation in September 2017.
The divorce was ultimately finalized two years later in November 2019, with Josh moving on with former Miss World America (and fellow North Dakota native) Audra Mari, who he tied the knot with in September 2022, welcoming their first child in January 2024.
Duhamel hasn’t spoken much about his ex in the intervening years, though he made a few rare comments about her in a wide-ranging interview with Parade.
The exes have established a good co-parenting relationship together, with Duhamel admitting they have ‘very little conflict’ with one another.

The actor also admitted that he’s still a, ‘work in progress,’ and admitted learning a lot about himself through his relationship with Fergie.
Back in October 2023, Duhamel told Graham Bensinger that he and Fergie, ‘have a great relationship’ as they both strive to raise their son, ‘without any acrimony.’
He added then that he has, ‘made peace with that part of my life,’ and chalked up the relationship breaking down to them both wanting different things.
‘There wasn’t anything wrong with it. We actually had a great time, but I think we just kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests,’ he said at the time.
He admitted that the Hollywood lifestyle was, ‘a lot’ for him to take in, adding, ‘I missed the simplicity of who I really am.’
‘I’m just not a guy who is comfortable doing red carpets, doing all the Hollywood stuff. I don’t hate it—I’m better at it now—but it just took me a long time to really feel like I belong, like I fit in. You know Hollywood and LA, that whole lifestyle can suck the life out of you if you’re not careful,’ Duhamel said.
That’s why he built a new home on a huge parcel of land deep in the Minnesota woods for his family.
‘Part of the reason I built my place out in Minnesota, deep in the woods, is it’s removed from everything,’ the actor says.

‘The closest store is 40 miles away. Once we get there, it’s really about everybody taking care of each other — making memories, spending time with family and friends,’ he added.
‘You really get a chance to get back to the basics. You’re not consumed by all these other distractions. When you’re out there, it’s really about having fun, making sure everybody’s warm, everybody’s got food and water,’ he continued.
He added that his new home in Minnesota has not only brought him closer to his parents, but to his son as well.
‘My son is going to have memories of this place forever. He’s not on his iPad when he’s out there. He’s out there in the boat with me, or he’s playing soccer on the beach, or he’s out there in the woods doing whatever I’m doing,’ Duhamel said.
