Jordan North has quit BBC Radio 1’s legendary Going Home show after a decade behind the microphone.
He is reportedly off to fill the boots of Roman Kemp on Capital Radio’s breakfast show, while Jamie Laing is in line to take over at the BBC in the Monday to Thursday, 3.30pm to 6pm slot, next to co-host Vick Hope.
Many will also know Jordan as the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant who went viral for saying that his ‘happy place’ was Burnley FC’s stadium – Turf Moor.

Jordan was born in York on Valentine’s Day of 1990 and grew up in Burnley, Lancashire, in a military family. His father served in the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment until 2006 and his brother Ryan has also been in the armed forces.
He began his radio career while studying at the University of Sunderland, appearing on the student radio station before he graduated in 2011 with a first class honours in Media Production.
Before finishing uni, Jordan entered a Bauer Radio competition for fresh talent, and managed to win a regular Sunday show on The Hits Radio – based in Manchester.
While in that role he continued to do work for a number of other Lancastrian stations.
After a few years, he landed ta job at the BBC as a researcher for 5 Live, and also began working as a presenter for Capital Manchester and Rock FM.

From 2014 Jordan began working as a cover presenter for Radio 1, filling in for other presenters, including Matt Edmundson in the following few years.
He landed his first permanent slot – Radio 1’s Sunday mornings Greatest Hits show – in 2018 and he moved to the 11am to 1pm weekend slot in September 2020.
Also in 2018, Jordan launched the Help I Sexted My Boss podcast with his friend William Hanson.
But he became a much more prominent household name on his run to becoming runner-up on series 20 of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! a few months after his Radio 1 promotion.

Jordan was not in the original roster of celebs, filling in for a late dropout, but ended up charming viewers.
Since then, Jordan became much more prominent on Radio 1, covering more for the likes of Scott Mills and Nick Grimshaw, leading to him proudly naming himself the station’s ‘supply teacher’.
He eventually took over from Grimshaw as the drive time presenter with fellow new co-host Vick Hope in September 2021.
When the news was made public, Jordan said in a statement: ‘I am absolutely chuffed to be making the move over to Radio 1 daytime and even happier to be working alongside Vick.
‘Grimmy is a Radio 1 legend so we definitely have big shoes to fill but will work extremely hard to make sure afternoons on Radio 1 still sound superb.
‘I am super excited to get started and look forward to this next chapter with Vick and the rest of my Radio 1 family.’
Two and a half years of success later, Jordan looks to be bringing his decade-long association with the BBC to an end.
