Rock legends U2 launched their Las Vegas residency on Friday night, which marks the official opening of the Sphere.
At 336 feet tall and 516 feet wide, the Sphere has been described as the largest spherical structure in the world that will play host to an array of different immersive live experiences.
But for now it is the home of the iconic Irish rockers’ U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency, who are playing their first of more than two dozen performances scheduled through December 16.
A slew of celebrities were among the crowd of more than 20,000 who are getting the first-look at the much-anticipated show, including actor Jon Hamm and his wife Anna Osceola.
There were other high-profile stars such as Paul McCartney, Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, Dakota Fanning, Connie Britton, Elizabeth Banks, Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, Josh Duhamel and Jane Seymour in the audience.

Hamm, 52, looked stylish for his night at the big rock show in a black suit, white dress shirt and brown leather shoes.
The Mad Men alum stuck a number of poses for the adoring photographers lined up looking to catch the many stars on hand for the event.
Osceola, 35, looked stylish and youthful in bright orange pants that were oversized along the legs, and a black sleeveless top and open-toe heels.
She would have her ginger locks styled long, straight and flowing down over her chest and she opted for minimal makeup.
Dakota Fanning showed off her fashion sense in a black skirt and matching top that hugged her womanly curves from top to bottom.
The I Am Sam actress, 29, also wore black open-toe heels, carried a metallic silver purse, and had her blonde locks styled long and straight with a center part.

The Friday Night Lights star, 56, also donned a pair of classic white Converse sneakers, and her blonde tresses done up with a healthy dose of volume and a jagged part that starts in the middle and moves to the left.

Josh Duhamel also made it to opening night of the event his pregnant wife Audra Mari by his side.
The actor, who already has a 10-year-old son with ex-wife Fergie, looked cool faded black jeans with black leather blazer over a brown t-shirt and old combat boots.
Breaking Bad stars and best mates Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston were back together for a casual night of music.

Las Vegas native and former tennis champion Andre Agassi was also on hand with wife Steffi Graf, along with Diplo, Lisa Jey Davis and Tom Schanley, Skylar Astin and Kevin J. Ryan.

At a cost of about $2 billion, the Sphere will become home to concerts and shows utilizing a 160,000 wraparound LED display and 164,000 speakers along with 4D capabilities that will surround the audience in their seats, according to CBS 8 News Now in Las Vegas.
The outside of Sphere, or the Exosphere, is the largest LED screen on Earth, consisting of approximately 1.2 million LED pucks spaced eight inches apart. Each puck contains 48 individual LED diodes.
With some 25 more shows of the new immersive technology at the Sphere, ticket prices for U2 range from $400 to $1450.
The band is performing these shows for the first time without drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who’s taking this year off to treat and recuperate from various injuries he’s accumulated over the years.
