'Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you,' she continued. 'It shouldn't be a month - it should be a year; it should be infinite.'
Wrapping up the video, Miley added with a laugh: 'I'm going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.'
While the gag was met with cheers and applause at the Washington D.C. festival, it failed to land online, with many social media users blasting Miley over the 'unnecessary' dig.
Just a few days later, JoJo clarified her sexuality after getting into a relationship with Chris, who she met last year on Celebrity Big Brother.
JoJo first came out as part of the LGBT community in 2021 - and initially identified as pansexual before coming out as lesbian. But she now considers 'queer' to be a better term for her.
'I think the most beautiful term now is queer. I think queer is an umbrella of, "Look, I'm just me,"' the performer stated.
'And I think the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is love. And that goes both ways.'
She added: 'There's loads of beautiful, different sexualities. Sexuality and queerness is a lovely rainbow that has all different places, and it also has places on this rainbow that we don't even know exist yet.'

The star brushed aside criticism and explained, 'I feel so in the right position for myself. I feel so content with my happiness.
'I feel so relaxed and at ease with where I'm at. I feel so happy and peaceful that the love that I feel is so real. You can't really help who you fall in love with.'
JoJo also briefly talked about Chris and revealed that she has 'never 'second guessed' what she feels for the reality star.
'Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing.'
Siwa further added, 'When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy. When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.'
Back in April, the dancer first crossed paths with Hughes on Celebrity Big Brother - where they first developed a close friendship.
But their bond caused viewers to speculate that there was more between them and in April following the show's afterparty, JoJo notably split from girlfriend and Australian influencer Kath Ebbs.
JoJo and Chris now have a long-distance relationship as she lives in America and he lives in England.
Earlier this month, JoJo broke down in tears and claimed 'it never gets easier' after Chris jetted back to the UK after visiting her.
In a TikTok video shared on a fan account, she said: 'It does get much harder. It never, ever gets easier.'
JoJo recently admitted she was 'lost' before going on CBB as she reflected on the time since meeting her boyfriend Chris.
Now, the former Dance Moms star has said she ‘loves Chris more than life itself' as she gave an update.
Alongside a gallery of photos from CBB, she wrote: '10 months ago I entered the house that changed my life for forever.
'Three weeks with some of the best strangers I’ve ever met, three weeks of letting loose having fun, and three weeks of not even realizing it, but finding myself and comfort and pride within myself.'
She continued: 'Right around a year ago, I knew I was lost in who I was, but I wasn’t sure how to fix it and find who I was, I don’t know if that makes sense but if you think about it on a deep level, it will make sense.
'A love greater than one can imagine, a bond strong, stronger than I knew was possible. Where it began.'
The couple have already described each other as 'the one', with JoJo now saying that starting a family with Chris is her 'destiny'.
Speaking in an interview, she explained how they have spoken about children and discussed her plans.
JoJo said: 'I have names that I really, really like and that I've spoken to him about. But I've never said them publicly.
'But now that we're this much further along, I have a relationship with his family. He has a relationship with my family. It just feels like destiny.'
