JoJo Siwa confirmed that she does not write her own music following claims her latest single, Karma, was ‘stolen.’

After denying ‘stealing’ the track, which was released in April, to TMZ, the Dance Moms-star-turned-pop-star, 21, took to TikTok to ‘confirm’ that she is not responsible for coming up with her lyrics.

‘I don’t WRITE my songs. I SING them. I have an incredible team of songwriters that write songs and pitch them to me to see if [they] wanna make the song mine!!’ she explained in her post.

She continued: ‘It’s kinda like when you buy clothes… you don’t “MAKE” it, but it’s yours after you buy it! They also ALWAYS get their credit and, of course, their check.’

‘I do enjoy the writing process, however for me as an artist that is not my specialty so I like to work with different songwriters to sing their lyrics, add a feeling to it, and ultimately bring the song to life!’ the Dancing with the Stars contestant concluded.

In the video, the Boomerang hitmaker could be seen dancing and lip synching to her upcoming track, Choose Your Fighter, while rocking rainbow face paint across her eyes.

‘In the video, the Boomerang hitmaker could be seen dancing and lip synching to her upcoming track, Choose Your Fighter,’ she captioned the footage.

This comes after Siwa emphatically denied ‘stealing’ her song, Karma, which was originally recorded by performer Brit Smith.

‘Honestly, it’s an old song,’ the reality star explained. ‘I was pitched it. I loved it, was obsessed with it, so I grasped onto it.’

Siwa added: ‘That’s a very normal thing… What happens is, people write songs and then they just don’t do anything with them. And then, a few years later, it makes more sense for another artist.’

‘I just knew that song was a special song, I knew it was a work of art, and I knew that it fit exactly the vision I wanted to create for the world,’ said Siwa.

Smith recorded the song and video for ‘Karma’s a B**ch’ with Rock Mafia and Timbaland in 2012 as her scrapped debut single, after Miley Cyrus passed on the track for her third album Can’t Be Tamed in 2010.

Label execs encouraged her to go with another song, titled Provocative, as her debut in 2013, but the single ultimately underperformed and Smith left the industry.

Smith’s version has since resurfaced on social media, with the video going viral and the song peaking at No. 8 on the US iTunes pop charts, surpassing Siwa’s version at No. 89.

In April, Smith came to Siwa’s defense as she filmed a video setting the ‘record straight once and for all’ about the plagiarism allegations surrounding Karma.

‘JoJo did not steal my song,’ she said in a TikTok video. ‘There’s been a lot of talk and a lot of comments and they just keep going, so I just thought let me come on here and hopefully put an end to this.’

Smith continued: ‘She was totally in the right to record her version, and I hate to see that anybody would think that I’m a part of any kind of bullying or anything like that.’

‘I was bullied in high school and I know what that feels like, and I would never want to be thought to be part of any part of that,’ she added. ‘I just want to make it clear that JoJo has done nothing wrong to me,’ she concluded.

Meanwhile, Siwa insisted she didn’t ‘know who Brit Smith is’ to TMZ.
