Johnny Depp has once again reduced the price of his sprawling estate in the south of France, nearly a decade after he first put it on the market.

The actor, 60, has been trying to sell the picturesque home since 2015, and had previously hiked up the price to £43.4 million to fund his costly divorce from Amber Heard.

Now, after dropping the price of the property to £23 million, Johnny is thought to have reduced the price of his home once again, by £10 million to £13 million.

In 2015, Depp was said to be ‘closing the chapter’ on his life with former partner Vanessa Paradis after he put the former couple’s sprawling estate on the market for $15.5million.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s decision to sell the home he spent 14 years and millions of pounds to restore, came just four months after Depp married Amber.

The sprawling 37-acre property was marketed as fully furnished, with DVDs still filling the bookshelves.

Alexander Kraft, chairman and chief executive of Sotheby’s International Realty France, who was selling the sprawling property, revealed: ‘Johnny had decided to sell the Plan de la Tour property to close this chapter of his life and move on.

‘He hopes that someone else will enjoy the property as much as he did and bring him or her the same happiness it brought.’

The exclusive hamlet, near the village of Plan-de-la-Tour, was bought in its entirety in 2001 by Johnny after he fell in love with both Paradis and France.

The thespian spent most of his time at the villa near St Tropez with French singer-actress Vanessa where he was said to love the quiet life of growing vegetables, shopping in the nearby town and playing with the couple’s children, Lily-Rose Melody and Jack.

He bought it as a wreck, but spent millions updating the mainly early 19th century buildings, built from the region’s traditional honey stone.

‘It was in a pretty rough state,’ said Kraft.

Following a renovation, stylish wooden beams, terracotta roofs and tiling complete the look that is centered around the village square in the classic French manner.

A church was converted into a guest-house with a once dark, secret confessional booth turned into a wardrobe.

There is also a restaurant, but no cash has ever been taken here for service. Instead, according to Mr Kraft, ‘Mr Depp uses it as a dining room’.

Other buildings in the square include a laundry and a garage – although more guest and playrooms hide behind their everyday exterior.

If all that isn’t enough, the 4,300 sq foot main home boasts five bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and an art studio where the actor indulged in another of his passions – painting.

And if prospective buyers still require rooms for summer guests there are several cottages plus a bizarre covered wagon outfitted with a bathroom and kitchen.

Known for enjoying his down time between his money-spinning films, it is understood Depp did much of the interior design himself.

Which meant he was even able to squeeze in a tribute to the hugely successful ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise – in which he stars as Captain Jack Sparrow.

His wine cave, the estate agent’s pictures reveal, is decorated in the films’ motif, with skulls and brightly coloured scarves.

If that doesn’t impress enough, there are two swimming pools, a gym and a skate park with a half pipe that Depp had built for Jack and Lily-Rose. 

In 2016, the French village was still on the market and Depp ramped the asking price up to $55.5million in a bid to help with the costs of his divorce.

Johnny Depp has had a colorful love life, but his property portfolio has been equally as varied. 

Over the years, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star has amassed an impressive array of homes around the world, with an island in the Caribbean, a French estate and a sprawling plot in Somerset (where he is currently seeking some solitude) among his haul. 

However, due to his tumultuous and very costly divorce from actress Amber Heard – which was finalized in January 2017 – Depp was forced to get rid of some of his prized assets. 

Here DailyMail.com rounds up some of the stunning properties which caught Depp’s attention – worth collectively more than £78 million – with some still in his possession and others long gone to the highest bidder. 

2004: The £2.8million private island in the Bahamas spotted while shooting Pirates of the Caribbean 

Depp first laid eyes on Little Halls Pond Cay while shooting Pirates of the Caribbean in 2004 and snapped it up for £2.8 million.

The island has six beaches (named after Depp’s children and former partner Vanessa Paradis), a palm tree-lined lagoon and solar-powered houses.

‘I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful,’ he told Vanity Fair in 2009. 

‘You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It’s instant freedom.’

In 2015, Depp used the island to celebrate his nuptials with actress Heard.

According to reports, the pair spent the weekend on the sandy outcrop where they held an extravagant celebration following their intimate wedding ceremony in Los Angeles.

Summing up the scene, one guest said at the time: ‘Amber did her own hair and make-up and Johnny was as laid-back as usual. But there has been a genuine glow about them… when they officially became man and wife… 

‘They wanted to do it all again on the beach and… (celebrate) with friends because they love the island and want it to be a continuing part of their lives together.’

Accommodation on the idyllic tropical isle is limited so some of the wedding guests stayed on Depp’s luxury yacht, Vajoliroja.

The island is currently listed on Vladi Private Islands, which lists islands for sale, but there is no price noted. 

The listing reveals that there are ‘proposals in place to construct a heli-pad and a sea-plane ramp, enough space to construct a private airstrip and even a natural deep water access channel with ample room for even larger vessels.

2016: Depp sells his four-story Venetian mansion overlooking the Grand Canal for £8.4 million

In 2016, Depp continued to jettison his assets, listing his four-story Venetian mansion for £8.4 million, according to Italian newspaper Affari Italiani.

The historic 17th century home, which overlooks Venice’s Grand Canal, boasts seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

The actor was set to make a loss on the sale of the Palazzo Dona Sangiantoffetti, having paid more than £10.1 million for it in January 2011.

Depp fell in love with the city after spending several months there filming The Tourist alongside Angelina Jolie the year before.

Reports at the time claim he even outmatched an unnamed Arabian Prince in a bidding war for the property.

The Palazzo was one of the only available buildings overlooking the city’s main aquatic thoroughfare and is situated in the Santa Croce area of Venice, not far from the Santa Maria Mater Domini Church.

Speaking of his love for the city at the time, the Hollywood star remarked: ‘My experience of Venice really happened between 10pm and 2am when the streets closed and I was able to walk around and experience the poetry of Venice, the ghosts of Venice, all those wonderful dark alleys.

‘For an actor being able to film within the confines of that magical city certainly helps… The city’s magic shone through completely.’

2017: Five Los Angeles penthouses, sold for £8.5M

The Murder On The Orient Express star sold the final unit of his five Los Angeles penthouses in November 2017 for £1.11 million, having originally listed all five as one listing of £10 million.

In the end, the five units – which total a combined 11,500 square feet of space – were each sold separately, bringing in £8.5 million, around £1.56 million under the collective asking price.

The sale came as Depp – who was reportedly still suffering fiscally from his divorce from Heard – was said to be facing selling five of his other LA properties in order to pay back the business managers that saved him from financial ruin. 

Originally, the final penthouse had instead been listed as a rental property, advertised at £4,300 per month. 

The apartment featured a loft-style floor plan with exposed brickwork and has stunning views of LA, with a whimsical mural by Brazilian street artist Osgemeos running from floor to ceiling, filling the entire wall of the 1,780 square feet of living area.

A galley-style kitchen sits opposite the mural and is equipped with stainless-steel appliances; and a steel-framed staircase leads up to a landing with a lounge/den. Another stairway heads up to the penthouse’s one master bedroom suite.

The expensive properties can be found in the Eastern Columbia Building in the downtown area of the city and feature many intricate design accents that seem to mirror the style of the famously quirky actor.

The five multi-level penthouses sit at the height of the building which is a 1930s Art Deco tower converted to plush condos by hotelier Brad Korzen.

Depp reportedly used the units as his private living space, but kept two of them for an art studio and a guest apartment.

Depp’s third apartment was listed earlier in 2017 for an eye-watering £1.88 million – but the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor sold the fourth for £1.4million – suggesting that particular unit did not meet its asking price.

That condo has three-bedrooms and two-bathrooms and features high ceilings and extra large windows looking out across LA and the mountains that surround the Californian city.

Inside, the stylish kitchen is bedecked in chrome and a feature staircase, in metallic red, spirals to another floor where there is a master bedroom decorated in industrial brickwork.

The Sleepy Hollow star sold two of the properties in October and November last year, netting £2 million and £2.4 million for the homes respectively.

The actor began selling his properties in the wake of his split from Amber, with the five penthouses at the helm of the sales.

2017: Tipped to sell five Los Angeles homes worth £15 million to pay back £3.9 million loan to ex-business managers

In November 2017 it was rumoured that Depp was set to lose five of his homes as his former business managers attempted to claw back a massive loan. 

The Management Group filed to force a sale of Depp’s properties – all of which are in Los Angeles – in order to cover the £3.9 million loan TMG says it gave the actor in December 2012. 

‘Depp paid interest and some principal payments under the TMG/Depp Note until he terminated TMG as his business manager on March 14, 2016,’ the Los Angeles state court filing, obtained by Deadline Hollywood, read.

It continues: ‘After that date, Depp and his new business manager, (Edward) White, have refused to pay any interest or principal on the loan…

‘However, in Depp’s self-centered world, ‘no good deed goes unpunished’.’ 

TMG claimed that Depp still owed £3.4 million on the loan, including fees and interest.

Depp had five homes in the Hollywood Hills worth a collective £15million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In 1995, Depp purchased a 1920s-era eight-bedroom castle-like home in West Hollywood on a four-acre eucalyptus grove.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star also has four neighboring houses as well as a recording studio that was built next to the castle-like mansion.

Depp’s feud with TMG began in January 2017, when he sued the company for £19.5 million, claiming it mismanaged his earnings during a lucrative period of his career, made unauthorized loans and overpaid for security and other services.

The suit also asked for a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction enjoining the company from proceeding with the foreclosure on Depp’s homes.

In a countersuit, TMG sought more £438,000 in unpaid commissions and credit card fees and to halt Depp’s suit.

According to the countersuit, the Murder on the Orient Express actor allegedly spent £59 million on 14 homes world-wide and £23,000 per month on wine.Additionally, Depp allegedly once paid $3million to ‘blast from a specially made cannon the ashes of author Hunter S. Thompson over Aspen, Colorado’.

2020: A beautiful 41-acre Kentucky horse farm with six bedrooms, two barns and a pool slashed to £1M 

In March 2020, Depp’s ranch-style home was finally snapped up at nearly half its cash value.

The 41-acre estate, first listed for almost £2.7 million, was shown as sold at a price of £1.055 million, despite the Lexington Herald-Leader reporting its worth at $2.33 million.

The Kentucky native initially purchased the farm in 1995 for £743,000, sold it in 2001 for $1 million and repurchased the property in 2005 for £1.8 million.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, who was born in Owensboro, reportedly repurchased the property in 2005 for his beloved mother Sue Palmer, who occupied the residence before passing away in 2016.

In 2019, Depp settled a blockbuster legal battle with his former business managers amid allegations about his spending and that he was the victim of gross misconduct. 

The house, nicknamed Betty Sue’s Family Farm in honor of his late mom, was put on an auction in 2017, however Depp’s business manager refused to accept the top bid of just £1.1 million. 

Despite struggling to sell for years, the property was quite spectacular, boasting a 6,000-square-foot house with seven bedrooms, a four-car garage, a guesthouse and three barns. 

The small horse operation had two barns, 15 stalls, four automatic waterers, paddocks, a separate guesthouse, gourmet kitchen and a managers quarter.

Added bonuses of the property included, a sunroom and a pool, as well as a large four-car garage.

Sticking close to his roots, the interiors of the property had a homely, old school feel with small and cosy bedrooms.

2022: The luxurious Gold Coast home where Depp famously severed his finger sold for £31M  

The Gold Coast mansion where Depp lost the tip of his finger sold for £31million in October 2022 – the highest amount ever paid for a Queensland home.

The luxury home, formerly owned by 500cc motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, went under the hammer on September 28 2022 and sold for the asking price.

The sprawling property, known as Diamond Head, boasts 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, and sits on 18 hectares.

Previously rented by Brad Pitt, it comes with a helipad, a 2000-bottle wine cellar and a cinema. 

The private jetty provides access to the Coomera and Pimpama rivers and there is even a landing strip for private planes.

Amir Prestige Real Estate handled the sale after it first went to market in March 2021 for expression-of-interest.

Mick, 57, bought the property for £1.3million in 1996 and renovated it several times over the years.

In 2015, Depp had the tip of his finger severed during an argument he had with Heard, his partner at the time.

He said he believed the digit had fallen into the bin but it was instead located beside the bar.

Mick, a five-time Moto GP world champion from 1994 to 1998, retired in 1999 to dive into the world of real estate.

The motorcyclist bought more than £9.3million worth of properties in Queensland.

His Gold Coast home on ‘Millionaires Row’ was the foundation of his portfolio which also featured a separate guesthouse and a go-kart track.

2022: Depp and Heard’s one-time Los Angeles penthouse hits market for £1.38M 

A downtown Los Angeles penthouse formerly lived in by Depp and Heard went up for sale for £1.38 million in June 2022.

The one-bedroom, two-bathroom, which spans 1,780 sq. feet, is located in the Eastern Columbia Building, where Depp once owned five properties, which he sold for a sum of £10 million in the wake of his 2016 parting with Heard.

When he and Heard resided there, the properties were interconnected with one another, but have since been modified into different dwellings.

The property was previously sold for in 2017 for £1.1 million, and was listed as a rental for £4,300 monthly, the outlet reported, citing public records.

The property is listed by Douglas Elliman agents Rick Tyberg and Ernie Carswell, who told the outlet that the listing was ‘just coincidental timing’ coming a week after the conclusion of the defamation trial between the one-time Hollywood pair.

‘It’s definitely not a typical Los Angeles residence at all, which makes it so special,’ Carswell said.

While it was not immediately clear if the property was the location of incidents mentioned in the trial, the agent added that the former couple ‘spent a good amount of their time’ in the ‘very large bedroom with views looking east.

The unit has ‘incredible volume and height, and you step out to the building’s rooftop swimming pool, which is about as dramatic as it gets in Los Angeles,’ Carswell said.

The famed building includes amenities such as a gymnasium, 24-hour concierge service, spa and rooftop pool, the latter of which was a favorite of the former pair, according to Carswell.

‘Very few people in the building used the pool, but I know [Depp] and Amber enjoyed it,’ Carswell told the publication.

The building is under the Mills Act and historically protected, which comes with tax incentives to property owners, according to the outlet.

2023: Prefers residing at his £12.4 million Somerset estate, complete with a 19th-century mansion

Depp recently revealed he prefers a quiet life in Somerset, where he resides on an 850-acre estate, complete with a 19th-century mansion.

Known as one of Hollywood’s biggest hell-raisers, the actor insisted he isn’t ‘the great extrovert that people think’ in a surprise interview with Somerset Life.

In 2014, he splashed around £12.3 million on a Downton Abbey-style estate in the West Country, which boasts 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms and 850 acres.

The stunning abode, which looks like it has been taken straight out of a Jane Austen novel, also features sprawling walled gardens.

Depp told the magazine: ‘I just love places with character. British people are cool and will greet you as if you are a neighbor – without going over the top. I like going to places, seeing things and meeting people – but I’m not the great extrovert that people think.’

He added: ‘In truth, I’m quite a shy person. That’s one of the great things about Britain, and especially Somerset. I can just be me — and that’s nice.

‘I can go into shops without being surrounded by people wanting selfies. I don’t mind that up to a point, but sometimes it gets a little too crowded.’

At the time of his purchase, the Pirates Of The Caribbean star was newly engaged to his now ex-wife Heard, who he married in 2015 before their 2017 divorce.
