John Mayer revealed to his fans that he’s currently on the mend… but that won’t stop him from taking the stage in Las Vegas tonight.
The 46-year-old musician – who recently reignited his romance with 24-year-old Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka – shared a photo of his injured left index finger.
The post to his 5.8 million Instagram followers revealed that the injury happened last week, but it won’t stop him from performing at The Sphere with Dead & Company.
The group, featuring many former Grateful Dead members with John Mayer taking over as singer for the late Jerry Garcia, has a trio of shows at The Sphere starting Thursday.
While the injury to his finger could have been crucial, the singer told his fans that he found a way around the injury so he could perform for everyone in Sin City.

‘Last Thursday I injured my left index finger (truck door), and the first thing that went through my mind was “I really need that finger in a week,”‘ Mayer began.
‘I need all my fingers, but the left index is the team captain of my fretting hand. It will heal just fine, but will be out of commission for a while,’ he added.
‘In the meantime, I have spent every day practicing guitar using the other three fingers and I think I have it sounding pretty good!’ Mayer insisted.
‘I’ve always felt like every part of me belongs to these shows, and it’s my responsibility to return to the stage each night without screwing up the equipment, and I’m sorry for the misadventure here,’ he admitted.
‘The power of the music and the love for these shows will prevail! See ya tonight,’ he concluded.
Dead & Company have Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas for the next two weeks.
The singer – a longtime bachelor who has been romantically linked to Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, to name a few – opened up in January about wanting to get married.
‘People don’t think I want to be married. I absolutely want to be married,’ he clarified.
‘You know the secret, which is that I’m actually fairly well-adjusted. And I so badly want to get married if only for my wife to just know in her heart, like, “John will know what to do,”‘ he added.

Mayer continued, ‘I just think that level of being relied on is the hottest thing in the world to me. “If my husband was here, he would know what to do. Call John. Call my husband.”‘
‘You’re a full grown-up when this is your romantic fantasy. You’re a fully fledged grown-up.’
Kelly – who is notably the widow of late actor Bob Saget – then cut in to jokingly say, ‘Your kink is that you want someone to be like, “John’s got a guy.”‘
‘Reliance kink? Oh my God. Reliability kink? Yes,’ the Edge Of Desire hitmaker expressed to the host.
