Joey Essex has announced the death of his uncle as he shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media.

The devastated The Only Way I Essex star, 35, said he would love ‘Big Greg’ forever as he shared snaps of them together over the years.

Joey wrote: ‘Big Greg, you was one of a kind. The best uncle to me and brother to my dad. A family man that anyone would dream of.

‘We will all miss you so much. Rest in peace mate love you forever.’ 

Joey’s sister Frankie Essex called Greg ‘the best’ in the post’s comments section.

The upload also sparked sympathies from Joey’s celebrity pals.

Fellow TOWIE star James ‘Diags’ Bennewith, 34, wrote: ‘Legend of a man, always had the most positive energy, always made you feel welcome, RIP Greg.’

Singer Pixie Lott, 34, penned: ‘hope ur ok joey sending lots of love (sic).’

And boxing reporter Colm McGuigan said: ‘Sorry for your loss my bro.’

Joey’s fans also sent their condolences.  

In her own tribute, Frankie penned: ‘Forever our Big G.

‘Greg, your love for family and friends was the strongest there ever was. If someone was lucky enough to meet you, it felt like they’d known you their whole life.

‘I’m so grateful for the time we had, for the memories, for the laughs and especially for you. 

‘A true Bermondsey boy!!! Millwall supporter through and through, a man who travelled the world and lived it fully.

‘You had the best wife, daughter and granddaughter your girls and we promise they will always be looked after.

‘We love you, baby. We miss you so much Big Greg Essex unforgettable x’

Greg was an actor and porter at Billingsgate Market, London.

He also co-owned the restaurant Beluga Seafood and Grill, Billericay, Essex, with celebrity chef Dez Harkness.

The eatery opened in September 2014, but shut without warning at the end of April 2015 due to a ‘leasing issue’.
